Kishi doesnt have the balls to kill off a major character. By major I mean people like naruto, sasuke, sakura, kakashi etc. The best he has done is Neji.

As for DBZ, I think its an age thing. Like theres no way that Goku would stay gone. But I didnt know that back then.
yeah. Like when I first read AoT, all I felt was despair in the series. Like people were getting eaten left and right with reckless abandon.

I guess jiraya, but thats like saying you'd care if Master Roshi was killed. I mean, itd suck, but its not goku getting perma deathed

The juubi was shooting wood spikes out and hinata went to shield naruto, but neji shielded hinata and got spiked. it was kinda corny.

Nah, Jariya dying is like Piccolo dying during the cell games in relation to Gohan

Or King Kai dying in relation to Goku.

If you watched only DBZ, sure, Roshi dying would seem like no big deal, but if you watched Dragonball and saw how much of a big role he played in Goku's childhood, then he died in DBZ, it would be more of a significant loss due to his history in the series. He didn't play a major role in DBZ, but Roshi was huge impact on Goku's life early on. Just like Jariya became on Naruto.

You guys are losing your mind. Jiraya dying, at that time in the series was monumental. even worst that he hasnt even come back from edo tensei.
If we were comparing in DBZ status, he would be like Piccolo (that was accurate who ever said that)
More important than ACE dying, (yes I said it) Ace was awesome but he wasn't shown half as much and wouldnt have been shown too much more with the 1 million characters OP has.
I would say more like if Sanji or Zoro died
More important than Captain commander of the gotei 13 dying

But picolo dying wouldnt really matter because things got to a point where Picollo couldnt really do anything of use. Like Naruto was on his way to surpassing Jiraiya at the point when he died. Plus we were getting stronger and stronger players introduced in the series.

As for the roshi thing, I did watch dragonball. But by the time dbz rolled around, he was pretty much a sideline character. In the beginnin of part 2, Naruto came back to the village with jiraiya, and then we didnt see Jiraiya again for years in our time. Then he comes back and dies. So for me as a reader, the emotional attachment wasnt really there. Same for Asuma. Like I didnt care that he died, even though Kishi tried his hardest to make him likeable/relevant with the kurenai baby angle etc

To a certain extent it would be similar to Roshi dying, in DBZ. Or another example would be Genkai dying before the finals of the Dark Tournament in YuYu Hakusho

Don't think he got the power of the 1tails back, but he's always had the sand "power" from his mom.

its Kishi just saying whatever basically. He changed the script. First, the auto sand was an effect of the shukakku, but then later on its really his mom or something doing it. And Gaara's chakra levels stayed pretty much the same, and he wasnt really any weaker after losing it. Kishi does that from time to time. He may say something, but change it for the story's sake. Like the sharingan being an evolved form of the byakugan. Retconned to the sharingan being their first

Speaking of Lee (and Guy for that matter), how come we dont see more gate action? Seriously, one of them needs to pop all 8 gates at once dammit. I want to see the godlike power that one is supposed to get with it. It would make the manga interesting, if only for a little while.

It almost hurts me to have been following this long but at the same time be so ready for the finale.
