Is Fate/Zero a good show? I've watched the first episode and so far it is very interesting. I'm a fan of Kirei Kotominei. Dude seems badass. Is there any type of backstory I should know going into this? Also what did you guys think of it?

It is a good show and you should watch it. Technically, F/Z is a prequel to Fate/Stay night and F/SN Unlimited Blade Works. I recommend you watch the ladder after F/Z.

I was the opposite. Watched like the first 5-8 minutes of fsz on netflix and stopped since I didn't know what the hell they were talking about. Started up the episode again a long time later.

Remember that Lee isn't Gai's kid, just a person who for some strange reason resembles Gai and his father. That kid was shown in the finale though with the other members of the new generation, yet no wife was shown for Lee, so I just assumed it was the same thing playing out again.

Not really. Nothing of any actual note has happened yet, and it seems to be nearly over. Kakashi Gaiden at 5 chapters was better. You could get through it in like ten-20 minutes though so you might as well.
