[[....<> The Official Kanye Omari West Thread <>....]] vol. GOOD Music album.

Just for reassurance, what does that line (From Power) mean to ya? Like what do ya think he really means.

^I think he means that he is looking down at his cross or Jesus piece and thinking he shouldn't put that much faith in God or leave him in control

"do u have the power to let power go (or come?)"...."till then, eff that...the worlds ours!"...and the end of the song is suicide....not saying my interpretation is right by any means....i would actually like to hear others

it would have been interesting to hear his response if Sway would have asked him as a follow up to that fear question on the Runaway after show, if he feared God, since he was so adamant about saying he didnt fear "NA'THING".

FTR i dont believe in the Illuminati n crazy isssh like that....but questioning God or losing faith after tragic events is a normal thing I think

This may be a stupid question but what about his references to arabic sayings usually associated with Islam?

I believe its in the power remix where he says "asalaam alikum I say wa'alikum asalaam".

And I think theres also one more song with this type of reference but I cant think of it right now.

Is there something behind this?
Converting perhaps?

.. his part is so dope to me.

I honestly do believe that kanye is a mason. NOT a devil worshipper, NOT Illuminati, but a mason, to put that into perspective, my X girls father was a mason and was no different than you and me. All masonry is in my mind is a well rooted and historically prevalent frat that has a belief system of its own. From what i have learned from reading up on masons, they believe just like several other religions that as a human being they have the rite to control there destiny, in a way making themselves "gods".

I think in power Ye is pretty much referring to that thought, The image of christ and religion has been so manipulated, and has been the cause of so much confusion throughput history, that he believes it doesnt deserve that much influence. Masons are also thought to recieve this "hidden" knowledge as they grow and feel that they are more "enlightened" than the rest of the population, so maybe this is him saying religion as we know it and as it percieved is just a lie. Either way its a fact that kanye is lashing out against ALOT of people on this album

^I can dig what u sayin, he doesnt even necessarily have to be a mason for that tho huh...what u said would kinda explain his BET performance and coming across as Moses but wearing a Horus chain...but that kinda defiance even if aimed at "people" looks like he going at God himself word to Stevie Johnson lol

how about on hell of a life when he says all i need is ++**# and religion? i think he's QUESTIONING it but i don't know about turning his back on it

Serious Discussion:

IMO this album has a religious/informative underling to it.

Track titles like Hell Of A Life & Devil In A New Dress..... Jesus and Satan mentioned numerous times throughout.

All Of The Lights followed by "I shoot there lights out" in the beginning of Monster.... "Run from the lights, run for your life" in Lost In The World.

Saw this explanation about a part of Power and was surprised I never thought of it like this. Not sure if I agree but I see where they're cominmg from

hes rapping as two people :
kanye: we aint got nothing to lose mother !!%+$+ we rolling
person : huh ?
kanye: yeah muthhaa ****aa we rollin
kanye :in this white man world we the ones chosen do goodnight cruel worldd i se you in the morning
person:this is way too much i need a moment
person : no one man should have all that power

& I didn't know Alec Baldwin was on 30 Rock. Now that line doesn't seem as random

i would have thought this too...but i saw a interview he did, may have been in this thread, where he was sayin sumtin like Hip-Hop or music in general is a religion to him, i think its the same video where he said he would be in a new Bible....so my guess is he means "Ussy & Music is all I need"...plus on Gorgeous "Hip-Hop is just a euphemism for a new religion"

KanYe like Jay-Z are facinated by figures in history to have a lot of " power ". In my opinion because they are now individuals who have a lot of influence on society.

Prime example: Charles I of england.

He believed he was divinely given his power as king and was eventually killed. ( As in " this would be a beautiful death " at the end of power. )

Peace.

Ye aint the only artist touching on these topics...he just puttin it IN OUR FACE..too bad most people still dont see it.

This Country/World has been built off soooooo many lies it's painful to even think openly what could have been/ was meant to be/ or what really is...I could type up a hardcover book on this topic...

Question: Who runs the Government?

You know whats going on.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind. - Bob Marley

You see it, but you dont get it?

Man I posted a video wayyy back when the Power video came out explaining all these sudden Egyptian symbols he uses. He almost talked about it in that usteam video but he stopped and said "Im not gonna go into it"

I noticed it from a distance Kanye is questioning his religion. Its a point that a lot of people go through when they find out that they've been lied too all their life. Its a mental hell but "You gotta go through pain in order to become you"

Its not a coincidence that he replaced his Jesus piece with a Horus piece (The original story of Jesus) Throughout the album he references different religions and shuns them at the same time almost like he's Lost in a sense. Going through tragedy puts you through that spiral and I can def relate to it.

The constant reference to "lights" = the truth. All of the lights is celebration of finding a truth. Lost in the world he suggests you should "run from the light" = The truth hurts.

And thats why I #@*$* with this album tho. He doesnt just come on out and say it (ala a Nas) but people on that same wavelength get it almost like coded slave songs

And I still think that at the end of Power the song goes off saying "Let them sleep, Let them sleep" like he's fighting between the demons in him to either Enlighten people and become a martyr or "let them sleep"

Kings get their head cut off. The psychology of group think is real

And as far as that line from "Power", I viewed "as I look down..." and "Thinking, no one man..." as 2 seperate thoughts so to speak. As in he looks down at his jewelry and thinks (about himself) that no one man should have all this power; i.e. - some real fly *%%$ to say about himself.

But who knows.
