I am on terminal leave right now, after just about 25 years, you couldn’t imagine how tight I was when I was checking out of TPU with a few other folks and they didn’t slide me my DD-214. I sat there and watched people get their DD-214s and I was jealous. I’m like “how the **** I submitted everything early, and correct, but my **** isn’t ready prior to terminal” the Navy has to do better….

What I'm finding out is certain folks admin is better than others.

My last OIC had his DD214 90 days prior to his retirement date. It was ready right after his ceremony and I got a friend that is a YN and she said it is possible to have it 6 months in advance but the admin team has to be on it.

They wouldn’t have been able to tell me anything if I got my DD-214 that early.
