The roster is stated to be about 25 or 26. (Excluding DLC )
It has an actual story line.
Heavy emphasis on Kustom Kombos
Test your might is back
( ima break me a diamond )
Test your sight
Test your strike
Test your luck
Thens there's the Khallenge Tower ( preety much Survival Mode is back )
Tag team which is 2 vs 2 kombat. ( Ed Boon confirmed that two players on one console can play online against two other people on one console)
Then of course you got the Krypt which you can unlock alot of items like art, bios, and
alternate costumes.
You also have the option of finshing your opponent by doing a fatality which to me is the ultimate win
Also the brutal x-ray move which to me is like a mini fatality.
MK 9 is going to have spectator mode from the jump. Something that MvC3 is lacking
MK 9 runs on a heavily modified Unreal 3 Engine. MK 9 graphics >>>>> MvC3 graphics
The number of Fighting Arenas is stated to be around the 18-20 mark. Here's a list of the stages that are confirmed so far.
Shang Tsung's Throne Room
The Deadpool
Jade's Desert
The Pit II
The Subway
Goro's Lair
The Armory
Garden Shrine - Day and Night variants.
The Living Forest
Shao Kahn's Throne Room
The Graveyard
Kahn's Kolliseum
The Bell Tower
The Wastelands
City Rooftops - Day and Night variants.
The Bridge
The Cathedral
Scorpions Lair
The Courtyard
Krato's Enviroment (God of War) - PS3 Exclusive.
Creepy Laboratory stage ( Rumored to be the Lin Kuei HQ where the cyborgs are created )
So to sum it up MK 9 looks like it has more to offer than MvC3. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. So far from what I seen on the combo exhibition videos the gameplay looks good and fast paced like UMK3. Hopefully we get some pro gamers at the PAX East ( Boston,Mass March 11- 13th) that can give us some feedback on the gameplay.
