They signed an 11 year $76B rights deal just 5 months ago.

Teams getting valued over $4B with 2 more expansion teams coming within the next couple years.

Players getting paid more than ever.

All time greats like Joker and The Greek Child putting together absolutely incredible seasons.

Younger stars like SGA and Tatum just entering their prime and leading the best teams in the league.

Crop of younger guys that are exciting to watch like Wemby, Lamelo, Paolo, etc.

This “consensus chatter” didn’t seem to bother ESPN/ABC/NBC/Amazon whatsoever.

The TV deal took a long time to work out in part because the NBA had a lot of bidders. That’s a good thing. TNT was so bothered by being left out that they sued over it.

And contracts between multiple parties that are going to in effect for more than a decade are complicated and take a long time to work out.

There wasn’t anything unusual or problematic with how long this deal took to get done (unless you’re a bidder that got left out like TNT).
