The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Night

the Nets Are kidding themselves thinking they are going to be "contenders" by trading Kyrie they are barely that now & aren't going to get anywhere near Kyrie's current level of production in this market, but If they want to build around KD, Ben & Dinwiddie/CP3 & late first rounders BY ALL MEANS.

Phoenix got the assets but they would be foolish to go in on Kyrie when KD is probably gonna ask out this summer

What makes their picks better than the Lakers picks?

The Suns own all their picks between now and 2029.
And the Mavericks can trade from 2025-2029

If I’m trading Kyrie, I’m trying to salvage a contender with KD. I can do that much easier with 2023 and 2025 first rounders than I can 2027 & 2029

So teams don't want to give up assets and are reluctant to extend him long term. Seems to limit BK's options

Clipper package the best one IMO.

There's the rub. Are they trying to salvage a contender? A team with Luka isn't sniffing the top 5 in the draft anytime soon. Suns have a young core as well. Might be better off swinging for the fences and hoping the Lakers are in the cellar by 27 and 29

What if Kyrie tells the Sun he won't resign with you after this season. If you're the Suns you still give up those picks?
