They're lined up with sengun/Jalen Green contracts. They can pay them or go another direction completely if they want. Flexibility in 2 years

New NBA. It makes sense for these young, rebuilding teams. Especially with the salary floor. I would expect more of those types of teams (Houston this year, OKC of the past, etc) giving out hefty short term bags as they rebuild. That’s at least what makes sense for those caliber teams instead of locking yourself into long term deals even if it’s a lower AAV.
