Like I mentioned before just tie a simple knot onto the 2nd last loop on the tongue before you do your slip knot, it will act as a lace lock. I think this was the intended design.

I feel you. I don't tie mine, they are still in the original loopy knots that shoes usually come in. With the shoe being TTS and bootie style, it's not like you really need them tied up for support or security anyways if worn casually.
