The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

I'm looking to pick up the Sony A7 or the A7II.

Not sure if I should go for the kit (comes with 28-70) or just the body. Is the 28-70 any good?

Hey guys, so I have a Minolta Maxxum 7000 film camera my dad gave me a couple years ago.

I've taken a couple shots with it and it feels pretty neat to shoot film.

I've heard that the mount is identical to that of Sony's?

Currently, the lens on the camera is a Minolta AF 35-70 zoom f4.

What other lenses would you guys suggest?

Of course I'm not trying to break the bank either :lol

Edit - I'd mostly use it for walking around, and shooting of friends/outings. AF would be ideal.

the 28-70, while a useful zoom, isn't really good...that being said if you need a 35mm autofocus zoom, it is the cheapest option

yes sony's a-mount is basically the minolta mount, sony bought minolta' camera division some years ago & built the minolta mount into the a-mount...i don't know it minolta cameras will have full functionality with newer a mount glass but i believe that sony a mount cameras can drive some minolta lenses...lots of folk loved the minolta system in its day, #doyagoogles and i bet you could find some references to some of the lenses people consider gems...

It's a decent lens with a decent range from reports, especially if you can get for $150 with the camera. Another alternative would be the Sony 24-70/4 but read mixed reports for that lens. I own the original A7, but if I had a choice to buy another one, I would opt for the A7ii for IBIS and better grip.

Here's the kit I was talking about (378 total)

vs (400)

So I spent the entire day walking from Bushwick to Greenpoint in BK (for those not familiar, its a very long walk lol)......My plan was to shoot street art/graffiti during the walk to Greenpoint. Had it timed to so that I would get to the parks on the East River, pick one and set up. I didnt anticipate insanely long lines. I did find a spot right on the water between Greenpoint and Long Island City Queens. I got a great spot, although getting home was a disaster with all the extra foot traffic/etc.

I was at Greenpoint too and had a terrible spot. My spot last year was better next too the UN building.

I forgot my memeory card for my cam at home and it pissed me off as I realized it walking to a spot but felt better when the spot we settled at was meh anyways.

Wheres that spot at? Dope flicks.

I was about to give up cause of all the long lines, bag checks, no elbow room....I was gonna walk over the Pulaski Bridge and try my luck at Gantry, but I walked to the very end of Ash on the northern most tip. It was a great low key spot. Not a lot of people, plenty of room. A lot of people had tripods out. I was on almost underneath the bridge slightly to the west.

Thank you for the compliments. Appreciate it.

^^^^^Sick pics! Filter looks good too. First photo is perfect.

I feel like I haven't shot in forever. Going to get back on the horse soon.

I've been doing some reading, perhaps using newer lenses wouldn't exactly be ideal.

It is a little more difficult choosing lenses from the 1980s as there isn't a lot of information or reviews surrounding them.

I have a question regarding flash triggers.

So since using my Canon 6D, I tried using my flash triggers, to find out the 6D doesn't have the aux port like my old rebel.
