Not a reliable source at all, but I read on my friend's facebook that Canon is coming out with a 24-70 L IS?

Looking to buy a prime lens, something sharper than my 50mm 1.8, any suggestions?

Any opinions on the Micro 4/3s that have gotten a bit of word lately? Are they worth the money for the amateur photographer that just enjoys taking photos as a hobby?
I'm thinking about getting rid of my XTi for something new, but I haven't decided yet. I'm trying to find out about professional photography as a side gig. If I were to do that, I wouldn't want a cropped sensor camera. If I decide not to venture into that, then I'd probably switch to a Micro 4/3.

Weather got in the way of our DC photog meet.. but for everyone whos in, its rescheduled for next sunday...

I'm fitna buy a Canon T2i and "play" with it with the intention of being the official photographer for my crew's Vegas vacation in 2011.

Hoping I can learn some things from first-hand experience plus this thread. I don't want to get into too much research because that will get cumbersome and only slow my progress.

Looking at some videos on youtube &

at the quality with supposed auto, pointing and shooting.

The only thing that might slow your progress is gear lust, but reading up on photography and actively doing it would not.
