The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

could you say that for any company if they are leading the others in sales? once Sony notices that decline in sales i bet you they would be rolling out some features but i think thats safe to say about any company so that it will help them push sales. look at what MS has been doing with the X1 by throwing out so many updates with features and great deals to buy an X1 I've been tempted to buy but not until MCC works properly
I don't think so, since Shu doesn't know why the ps4 is selling so well. Hopefully $ony could "update" their update game. There were a variety of features that the ps3 lacked, that never got added. Party chat being one of the most notable.

DNLA? That's what X1 has, right? I don't see how that's useful or even wanted. It allows you to play music from your computer but not in the background wile you are gaming, right? I think PS4's USB Media Player is better. I can see how external storage would be wanted but PS4 makes it easy to upgrade your internal storage which is what I personally prefer. Again, I can understand that one though.

X1 is cool for entertainment features but why would you spend $350-$500 on a gaming console to watch movies and listen to music? I buy gaming consoles to play video games. The features that you named are cool but they aren't the deciding factor for me, I could do without them. I don't feel like MS puts games first. They have a few titles here and there and then they just pay for exclusitivity for the bigger multiplat titles i.e CoD, GTA IV, BF4 etc.

Sony may take their time with updates but they release quality games. Neither the X1 or the PS4 have a lot of exclsuives to offer but most consoles pick up in years 2-4. Sony already has a great lineup planned for 2015. Now I can't say if those games will bomb or not but given the reputation of those developers, we should see some great games.

Exactly what they should be doing since the PS4 is a gaming console.
Yup dnla. PS3 has dnla. dnla lets you stream audio/video from a server. The compromise would be snapping the music player while playing the game. The ps4 doesn't have a media player, it's an mp3 player. With the ps4, you're capped at 2tb. While on the xb1, you're capped at 16tb.

The external storage is for saving more games. $ony does the same thing, so I don't see why you're trying to point out m$. Each company pays ppl to make their exclusives. Nintendo on the other hand...

When you first open your ps4, you get a free trial of music unlimited.  Aquiring apps, video unlimited, and the recent news of this supposed playstation "channel."

If the ps4 was just a gaming console, $ony wouldn't have invested so much $$$ in those non-gaming departments

The same snap feature that takes up a decent size of your screen? Or can you hide it now, I don't use it to often as I'm not a fan so I wouldn't know?

Media player, MP3 player doesn't matter in my opinion. PS4 allows users to play music in the background whereas X1 I would have to "snap". I don't see the point in playing music from the TV if it's not in the background of a game. I'm not going to turn on my Xbox 1 or PS4 to sit and listen music. I have an iPod with a dock, laptop etc. Ok so you can put 2TB in the PS4. Can you put 16TB in the X1 internally?

I know both pay for exclusive but a lot of those developers work for Sony, I think so anyway. Rarely does Sony pay for exclusive DLC like MS. MS does this a lot more than Sony i.e. COD, GTA IV, Mass Effect, BioShock, Rise of the Tomb Raider. Only games that I can think of off the top of my head are Destiny and BF3 in which Sony paid for exclusitivity.

I didn't say that Sony was not looking to "expand" into other departments. I think Sony puts gaming first and that's what should be most important when buying a gaming console. For every app that the X1 drops, I can access that somewhere else.

I can watch TV through my cable box

Netflix from damn near every other media device

YouTube from a computer

Why should any of that matter when you are purchasing a video game console?

Atleast make the ps1 inspired ds4 available worldwide.

But then again, the magma red ds4 isn't.

That's the ps4 you would never take out the box, instantly put it in those collector boxes and get it graded.

Now we just have to wait forever

What do you think Level 5's next game will be? You think we'll get Ni No Kuni 2? It sold very well and I'm sure it'd do great on PS4.

Give me what Hybrid mentioned and NNK 2 as announcements and I'd be extremely surprised, impressed and excited

I though NNK 2 was a slam dunk, but with Studio Ghibli in a weird stasis, I dont know if that is the game they go with.

Level-5 worked on Dragon Quest, but that has become a Nintendo franchise at this point. However, that Slime PS4 had me thinking maybe... but Dragon Quest Heroes is about to drop and that has that covered.

White Knight Chronicles was a great couple of games, but pretty hard core in grinding. I dont think sales will justify a new one.

They do a few other games for other platforms (Professor Layton, Inazuma, ect)...

but if it isn't a new IP, I'd hope for a sequel to any of these 3.

Jeanne d'Arc (awesome strategy RPG for PSP)

Rogue Galaxy (very underrated)

Dark Cloud (criminally underrated)

I will try to get this ps4 but damn resellers are going to be out there

There is a free PS1 theme out now for the PS4 for free. Its says its a static theme ,but it really isnt. It even has the OG PS1 startup sounds

Thinkin about picking up Game of Thrones. I haven't watched the show nor do I know about the plot/background. Is the game similar to TWD where the plot and characters are diff. from the TV show?

Thanks for this, has anyone here done a swap yet? I was thinking about doing so after seeing NBA 2k15, Fifa 15, TLOU (digital), Madden 15, and COD were taking up a little over 200GB worth of space. I haven't even installed SOM yet. I'm usually pretty decent figuring out computer stuff but am a little less tech savvy when it comes to gaming consoles. Would I be able to switch harddrives and still transfer all my progress from the games I'm currently playing and possibly re-download my digital copy of TLOU?

Yes, but it relies on you knowing a little bit of the show. (Who Joffrey is, what the Red Wedding was, ect) Where as TWD had completely different characters and setting, this has several characters from the show involved in the plot.

You could play without having seen the show, but some of the nuances and why certain things are happening would be lost. I'd suggest watching the show if you can.

I got an email saying my 1 year PSN subscription ends on January 7th

I have one one deck but should I wait closer to the date or can I add the card now?

The episode contains show spoilers. I think you'd have to watch 4 seasons of Game of Thrones for you to not get spoiled.

There are characters from the show that are now in the game.

No worries. I believe a couple people here have done the swap.

You would absolutely be able to do that.

You could save you game saves to $ony's online storage system and a flash drive.

I'd recommend saving your game saves to both a flash drive and the online storage, just to be safe.

To redownload your ps4 games, navigate to the library app.

Do that after you install your new hdd. You should see your previous game purchases.

The option to redownload them should be avialable, so you don't have to pay for them again.

You can use it now. Supposedly there is no limit to how many yearly subscriptions you can stack.

Read the comic. The game and the comic share the same universe.

Yup. It still doesn't have true background music playing, but the 360 had that. It's not like it would be impossible for that to be patched in.

Nope you can hook them up via the usb ports and play your games right off the external drives. Which is just as fast as playing the games from the internal drive.

Add assassin's creed 4, watch dogs, and far cry 4 to that $ony's list. Those are some examples of games that $ony paid $$$ for some type of extra content. I don't think it matters which company spends more on exclusivity. They both do. It's just that m$ has more $$$ to spend.

Under Phil SPencer, the xb1 is now more game focused. Given last year's E3. Which is why I bought an xb1 in sep 2014, rather than nov 2013.

Those features are secondary to me. They fuse the capabilities of diff. devices into "one." I had a media player before the I copped the xb1, now I just use my xb1. It's a similar trend to the iphone. Where they fused a music player with a cell phone. Basically, they're appreciated conviences that enchance the overall experience of a console.

There is a GoT comic?

After long debates with myself thinking and researching which next gen console I want to get, it looks like I will make the transition to the PS4 after being with the 360. :smokin
