The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

None of these fit in the screen well.

Wow really, not even the bottom one at 480p?
I'll go back to using the default size then.

Killzone Q&A

Will Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer have a variable frame rate?

No, we’re running 60fps. However, the game may drop a few frames in extreme situations – when there are a lot of GPU-intensive things going on at once. Guaranteeing a constant 60fps under such circumstances would’ve required undesired concessions.
We wanted to make sure Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer would present a visual spectacle, boasting a stunning level of detail in 1080p at 60fps, while still allowing 24 players and their drones (effectively 48 entities) to take part at once. We’re very proud of the results – when you move through the maps you’ll notice lots of intricate details, from beautiful reflective surfaces to individually moving leaves on the foliage.

What is Killzone Shadow Fall’s multiplayer network structure like?

Killzone Shadow Fall has dedicated servers hosted in various regions around the world. These servers do not run the logic of the game – they only act as a hub between the clients, forwarding network traffic from one player in game to all other players in game. This allows people with a slower connection or strict firewall settings to play without issues. Almost all logic relating to you (e.g. moving, shooting and taking damage) runs on your local PS4, with only a very small portion of the game logic (i.e. mission/scoring logic) running on the ‘session master’, one PS4 in the game selected for its connection quality.

Picked out a couple of questions.

Game running at 60fps in multiplayer and it has dedicated servers

This last post was much better lol.. I always wondered if you were posting from a mobile device and couldnt tell.

I dont know what you are all running your resolution at, but on a desktop I can see all three video ddouble posted...

After news came out yesterday that Killzone wouldn't be running consistently at 60FPS in single player, this came out today.

Watch Dogs Runs at 30 Frames Per Second on Next-Gen Consoles
Ubisoft Montreal highly values steadiness and consistency.
by Chris Pereira SEPTEMBER 27, 2013
Believing that consistency is critical, Watch Dogs developer Ubisoft Montreal is currently targeting 30 frames per second as the framerate in its debut title on next-generation consoles.

"Right now the frame rate we're focusing on [is] a steady 30 [FPS]," said creative director Jonathan Morin in an interview with VideoGamer. "There's always a balance, especially for open world, between the simulation and the rest. I think for where we are, the most important thing is the steadiness and [ensuring] that it's always capped the same so when you play it it feels right."

The subject of the next-gen versions' native resolution was also broached, but Morin said he was unsure as to the answer.

Just yesterday, Guerrilla Games revealed its PS4 launch title, Killzone: Shadow Fall, doesn't run at a consistent 60 frames per second. In order to achieve the level of visual fidelity seen in multiplayer, Guerrilla allows the framerate to drop at times -- but it claims "usually in the moments where we're going to drop framerate, either you're already dead or it's too late anyway." Shadow Fall's single-player runs at the same 30 frames per second that Watch Dogs does.

IGN will be speaking with Morin today and asking him the questions about Watch Dogs that you want answered. Stay tuned for more details about the open-world title ahead of its launch this November on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Killzone is smooth according to the people who are at the Eurogamer expo.
The devs just said it would drop if everyone did something GPU intensive like let off grenades at the same time at which point you'll be dead anyway.
The 30 fps single player is for better graphics and set pieces so it's just a design choice rather than limitation.

Watch Dogs is disappointing though. 30fps and they can't even guarantee if it will be 1080p

The first two or three posts on each page get cut off by those ads and recent images. :{

The last two videos are fine, but I can't watch embedded videos. I don't know why, but I always have the need to fullscreen them.

The first couple posts getting cut off is one of the downfalls of the interface, but it's fine because NT on Huddler is so much better than Yuku. No more posts disappearing and all the other ridiculousness.

Early heads up for NT'ers in NY (I'm sure other states will do it also). Best Buy will do a midnight launch on the PS4.

The First Two Owners of a PS4 Outside the Industry Are from Dubai

Quite a few industry professionals have a PS4 by now, or at least a dev kit, but what about normal dudes like you and me? Looks like the first two PS4 consoles have found a warm home, literally warm, as it happened in the Middle East, and more precisely in Dubai.

As part of a contest during Game 13 Expo in Dubai, two lucky guys named Hamad Al Hai and Naji Riyadh got their hands on the console early, receiving it directly from SCEE President and CEO Jim Ryan, as you can check out from the grainy pictures below.

It isn’t even a “give me your name and I’ll send you the console at release deal”, they actually got the real thing. Lucky them? That’s for sure. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem that they received any games with the consoles, so it looks like they won’t be able to do much with them, at least for now.

I pray for forgiveness for those who stand their consoles vertically.

It sucks that we have to buy a stand seperate, and what's worse is they're probably gonna charge 20 bucks for that piece of plastic.

Thinking about cancelling my preorder and putting this $600 towards a AMD 290x , it was playing battlefield 4 at 3K resolution on a single card :x next-gen has been extremely underwhelming to say the least

We're still doing 30FPS... really? Next gen this is not.

Next gen has nothing to do with it. Every PS3 game could have been 60 FPS.

It's either 30 FPS with extra graphical bells and whistles or 60FPS with fewer bells and whistles. It's a design choice.
