The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

You guys think it's going to be hard to secure a PS5 come launch? I remember with the PS4 I easily pre ordered on Amazon and had it launch day without any problems. I feel like people are alot more interested in the new console than in 2013, especially with no price/release date out there yet.

Maybe but I expect covid sanctions to still be intact by launch so it might actually be easier to get one in person.

I'm trying to get a black friday bundle anyway.

Sony according to reports wants to have 10 million produced for this holiday season. With the pandemic right now I wouldn't rely on amazon for shipping and getting a new console on release day. Heck I ordered Death Stranding collectors edition last month for $69 and it took close to 2 weeks to get delivered because amazon used USPS for shipping. The US post office last I heard was only operating at like 40% capacity because of the financial hit they are taking due to the pandemic.

They're going to have 2 SKUs and they already know there's very high demand so the production numbers should be high...I don't think it will be hard to get one

I'm not sure if it'll be hard to secure a PS5 but getting the SKU that you want might be an issue. I think they're going to make more of the digital SKU even though the physical SKU will most likely cost more. Some of the people who want the physical SKU will cave and grab the digital SKU if the physical is sold out. I'm sure they prefer that majority of people go digital.

I didn't even think about how Covid would affect launch delivery. Pre ordering at Best Buy or Gamestop might be the move.

whole lotta people are jobless with no/low incoming coming in right now and it's only gonna get worse within the next few months, combined with sony producing more and I think there will be enough to go around on release day.

I'm probably the most anti digital video game buyer on this thread and on NT. During this whole pandemic I've still bought almost all of my games on physical disc and went to either Best Buy or GS to get FFVII Remake, TLOU Part II, Batman Return To Arkham HD collection, and GoT, and will get Tony Hawk Remake at GS next month. I mean also my job is very much essential and I go into work every day. I work for one of the biggest health care providers on the West Coast in the IT department where I'm not a programmer, web designer, sys admin or whatever job where people work from home most of the time. I actually think the process got easier now with buying games physically at a retailer where you show up to like at Best Buy go on your phone and say "I'm here" and they bring out your video game and other stuff. At least now there won't be crazy camp outs like with past generation releases and the usual scalper and re sellers.

I also got my PS4 at launch from Amazon & it delivered the same day. If the rumored production reports are true it shouldn't be hard, but I'll still do my due diligence & pre-order. Pricing will also be vital information. If the MSRP is super high, I don't see many being enticed to upgrade especially with no premier games being launched beside it.

I'll probably do 2 this time around though since there could be shipping/pickup delays & help someone out with the other since we all have that one friend that will text us the night before and ask for assistance.

for some reason, i have a hard time rationalizing day one buyers as being affected by covid/unemployment, maybe christmas buyers, but not day one buyers

a ton of money has been spent on video games since the start of the pandemic

A ton of people were home collecting weekly during the pandemic. No more unemployment and loans are drying up.

People spent the first stimulus checks on dumb sh*t like rims, iphones or androids. Now these are more than likely the same people that are begging for another government hand out for saying they need a second stimuls check.

It’s not a hand out but I get what you’re saying on the spending on stupid **** stuff

There will be good percentage of people wanting to buy on release day.

Like always, the people who want the 'hottest' thing will do whatever it takes to secure that hot item.

Pre-order just to play it safe.

you guys could be right, but let me ask you day one buyers this:

if you found out tomorrow morning you had no job, you still buying day one?

i know i am, my moneys straight

No, of course not. If you have the fluidity to do that, then go for it.

I understand my financial priorities and know when to not splurge on something that can be used towards my family.

It’s going to take the Army more than a day to put me out , I got at least a few months for them to process that paperwork

If I woke up tomorrow with no job I’m not spending big on anything until I find a steady source of income. I’m good on touching my savings for anything let alone a console I could buy down the line but that’s Just me
