The RPG Thread -> 2023 was a banner year for RPGs. What was your favorite?

I sure hope suikoden wasn't caught up in this.

Suikoden is a Konami series so no issues there.

I need more information. I cant understand why they would make this decision.

Maybe I am being pessimistic, but that could mean the death of:

FF Tactics remake
Triangle Strat sequel
Bravely Default (although I think this series does well enough it should survive)
More Octopath games

Harvestella and Diofield franchises are almost certainly done.

Unicorn Overlord maybe hasnt sold well. FF Rebirth sales numbers have been awfully quiet.

This sucks.

If anything, I think they might cancel the Dragon Quest 3 HD2D.

Crazy because the HD2D remakes/new games are more interesting than any of the currently mainline games.

I know you and I are always joking around that an FF9 remake is just around the corner, but with this development I'm not so sure anymore.

FF VI Remake

For the sake of my lifespan I’ll take 6 and CT. Anything beyond that I’ll be old man status.

XVI was a VERY good game. Like 4th behind 7, 6, and 9. My only complaints were the lack of being able to use anyone besides Clive and lacking magic use.

XVI story is top notch. Clive is one of the best protagonists too. I’d put the game behind VI, VII, IX, and X as far as main entries go. That’s not including XIV and VII Remake and Rebirth which I’d also rank above XVI.

so is VII remake part 3 still only going to be a PS exclusive?

im assuming Rebirth's sales were disappointing since they never released the info on that.

rumor is Sony and SE has a deal for all 3 FF7 remake games to be a PS exclusive
