Is there a worse weapon in an RPG to find legit?

Seitengrat - FFXII

The Seitengrat is by far the most powerful weapon in the game, and has double the range of all other long-range weapons, which makes it an easy choice for clearing out regular mobs.

Obtained

The Seitengrat can be obtained when the player can board the Skyferry. Entering the deck of the Skyferry offers a 1% chance for an invisible chest to spawn on the deck that has a 20% chance of containing an item, and if the player has the Diamond Armlet equipped, the chest has a 5% chance of containing the Seitengrat. With this being 1 in 10,000 chance every time the deck is entered (assuming the player knows of the hidden chest), the Seitengrat was intended to only be gotten by fluke or serious persistence. However, with RNG manipulation, the player can guarantee that the chest spawns and relinquishes a Seitengrat.

When the player acquires the Seitengrat, they can go to the Cerobi Steppe's Old Elanise Road area, equip it, and near the entrance from the Tchita Uplands, by a tree, an arrow will float in the air at about head-level. The arrow will be the same type as the player's currently equipped arrow. (This is shown in the infobox image.)

PlayStation 4

It is possible to guarantee that the Seitengrat will spawn on the Skyferry by exploiting the game's random number generator (RNG) in The Zodiac Age version, with various methods, such as this in this YouTube guide. The player should create a new save file in Nalbina Fortress at the beginning of the game as Reks, and then load their main save file. In their main save file, the player should set Vaan as the main party member and equip him with a Diamond Armlet, and then visit Rabanastre and take the Skyferry to Nalbina. From there, the player should enter the deck, and then close their application.

The player should load up their newly created save file at the beginning of the game in Nalbina Fortress as Reks, and cast Cure on themselves, until the amount cured is three specific numbers in the exact order: 88, 97, then 90. The player should quit to title screen, load the auto-save made in the Skyferry, and the invisible Seitengrat chest will have spawned. Go to the chest and watch the NPC on the stairs. He'll regularly climb up and down them. On his fourth time going up the stairs, open the chest as his feet hit the top step. This method also works on PlayStation 5.

Depending on the player's PlayStation 4 model, they may want to use another number set due to differing RNG positions. One such differing set is 97, 94, and 95. This time, after loading the Skyferry file, the player should run up to the chest and watch a child NPC to the left looking over the railing. The child will run to the right end of the railing and then to the left end. Finally, he'll return to his original position. The player should open the chest as soon as he enters said original position.

I actually got a few of them on The Zodiac Age

I had no idea about that weapon until then. I know in the original you can miss opportunities to grab certain weapons and other chests but opening chest in the beginning of the game. That’s just foul

Beat Persona tactica last week. Was a bit too easy on the hardest difficulties is my main complaint, story just mid. Gameplay is still fun though.

Started up FUGA: Melodies of steel. Has similarities to persona/Fire emblem with affinity levels. Story/gameplay is bunch of kids in war-torn area find a tank and pick up other kids along the way. Kids are put in gunner positions with other kids supporting them giving different buffs/bonuses. Linear game, but cool concept that I've been enjoying. Got it on sale, and think it would only be worth it on sale because it's kind of short.

I need to lock in and put some time into Metaphor this weekend. My son passed me up last night and talking to me like I haven’t been gaming since the early 90s. “Yeah Dad, I don’t know if you’re going to be able to beat this boss. Let me know if you need help with your builds” ☠️

I forgot about this game! I better add it to my wishlist.

 I am halfway through, only to find out the guide Powerpyx originally posted for the calendar had a bunch of issues, so he reissued a different one.

Except I am already halfway through the original and can't change. I am at a point in his guide where he suggested beating a level 60 boss while my party sits around 30. :stoneface:Its optional, but if I cant do it, it will throw my days off.

Which is exactly why I hate this calendar thing Atlus does.

Where is the new guide?!?! I’m using their guide too

I’m still on the first dungeon so hopefully I’m good.

edit: nvm, I’m safe

I only found out because I opened it a couple days ago and nothing made sense. I scrolled to the comments and they noted they updated it a few days ago. They provided a link to the OG, so I still have it.

Anyone diving in? Give us your thoughts.

I have it downloaded, but 3rd in line behind Metaphor (40 hours in) and DQ3

I’m hoping to pick up a physical copy next week. I want to finish Metaphor (~30 hours in) before starting another JRPG. I saw PowerPyx already has a trophy guide up and it looks pretty straightforward although it will require a second playthrough.

After the Metaphor Guide debacle, I am going to give PowerPyx a few weeks to get it sorted.

I kind of strayed from using any Metaphor guide at this point. Just winging it.

There's apparently a lot of wiggle room in Metaphor. My son managed to max all confidants minus one without using a guide. He has no desrie to chase trophies either so he was definitely playing care free.

Spoiler for a potential Game Award leak, however improbable....

Action-focused combat is irritating.

I don't care, still want it. I'm gonna cry for real if it does show up.
I just got through a run on the PC version with the alternate fantasy mod installed, which changes the encounters and mechanics of the game and it was really refreshing after 20 years of playing the same game.

Man I swear I get more emotional the older I get

I’m playing Metaphor and will be heading to Altabury soon…

When Fidelio gets killed and Basilio talking to his dead brother had my eyes watering up 😢

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth got me too.

I just finished everything I needed to, with 9 days to spare. Just have to push through to the boss and I should have it wrapped up.

I dont think I want to do the second playthrough for the platinum right now, but thatll be the only trophy I am missing.

I think you can get the last trophy in about 10-15 hours. I’ll probably push through cause there’s no way I’ll want to replay later down the line

I’m glad to see there’s some extra days because there was a few days that didn’t line up with the guide I was using.

Normally I would push through, but I have such an itch to play DQ3 and Fantasian that I don't want to put them off any longer than I need to.
