Anyone ever turn down a request to be a groomsman?

A friend, more like a friend of a friend, asked me to be in his wedding. Its a destination wedding. I agreed at first but after thinking some more I really don’t want to. He’s a cool guy and all but I’m really not trying to drop 2k to go to a wedding. Especially not for someone I don’t consider one of my boys. If it was local it wouldn’t be an issue.

That sounds like a logical reason. Kinda wild that he's reaching to have you be a groomsman. Do you think you would've been invited to the wedding otherwise?

Recently, I had to tell my cousin that I am not wanting to be a groomsman. Especially that his wedding is in Mexico. Not fair to some people having to cash out that kind of money for YOUR wedding day.

Mr Brother asked me to be a Groomsmen and it was pretty expensive

It was a local wedding too

If that's not ur boy you should have said no from the beginning

I'd rather give 300 to a gypsy

Since your not going just get him a decent wedding gift.

Your not obligated to say yes, but you can tell him in a nice way like "I have obligations here in the states that I need to take care, of....wish you a happy marry life....."

My Good friend got married back in his home country(Bangladesh) it was a impromptu arrange marriage ceremony, I would have gone but he himself didn't know he would have came back married. Kinda funny, cause me and another friend knew it might happen, but didn't know it will be for real.

My Brother turned down being a Godfather

He wasn't even cool with the Parents like that it was random

That's also a lifetime responsibility

He didn't make you best man?

And just curious, what was expensive about it? My cousin's fiance asked me to be a groomsman and the most expensive part is going to be our bachelor party trip to Colombia.

Nah I wasn't

All the Groomsman paid for his bachelor trip to Vegas (Flight + Hotel+ All expenses) plus ur own

The Tux I had to wear was around $200

It was a big commitment too I had no idea

Attend a bunch of stuff before the wedding

I had to take a ton of pictures on the wedding day

It was fun tho

That'll do it. We were gonna do Vegas but decided Colombia would probably be cheaper. Also the groom is paying for his own stuff. :lol

why wouldnt dude just get married in Vegas?

I was the best man for my best friend's wedding
We did the bachelor party at Vegas
I paid for two vip tables, various other things and a groomsman's share of the room, and only half the party paid me back

I probably went 7000 in the hole that four day weekend

I was soooo sleepy this morning.
Had to roll out of bed. Went to starbucks and got some fancy coffee
Im wired again lol

I'm much better off without caffeine.

My body gets addicted to it. And I crash very quickly.

Now that I've gone without it, my energy level is more even. I just have to make sure I get enough sleep.
