I knew of this dopeboy who rented furniture even though he probably had the means to buy it. His rationale was that they come move it in and out so he doesn't have to go through the hassle of figuring it out himself.

Was it new or used?
 
What about the moving out part? He would have to sell it, give it away, or figure out a way move it to his new spot.
It varies place by place, but a lot of companies will take simpler things out of your home (beds, 1 piece couches, chairs). Or you could call a goodwill/thrift store and if they want it, boom, free movers.

Probably considered that, did the due diligence, and arrived at the decision that renting is more cost effective than buying and then giving it away. Oh well not my money, just thought it was interesting to note.
