the thread about nothing...

You can work a whole day (8 hrs) on federal minimum wage and still not make enough to fill up your tank.

Let that sink in.

Ted Cruz publicly pondered how Pete Davidson gets hot chicks the other day, he doesn’t get it, worth his time

meanwhile, is the richest recipient of gun-related funding among his peers.

Yea, we have another month left and I think most of us (admin/teachers/kids) are ALL DONE.

Never seen this many behavior problems at MY school.

Never seen this amount of SKIPPING here.

We probably average about 0.75 fights per week.

It was a rough year man.

I don’t even teach first period cause they come in at 8:45 and class ends at 9

My job sent out an announcement that they’re switching to a hybrid work model in September and people are losing their minds in the company chat. Crazy how working in an office is considered so evil now.
Same here except I start in a couple weeks (2-3 days a week in office). The issue I have is that we were given some BS reasoning that we’d be at risk of losing the building lease if we don’t maintain a certain occupancy level. Other departments’ hybrid schedule (1 day a week) clearly show that to be false.

AirBNB CEO got it right. You can’t expect people to be happy about coming back to the office to do the same work they’ve been doing at home for 2 years. You have to make in-person engagement more intentional (workshop, retreat, conference). Right now I feel like I’m simply being used as some boomer’s outlet for social interaction. I don’t need to be in the office to do any of my work and I’m available by multiple means if anyone needs me.

It’s not enough to make me start looking for a new job but it does become a consideration if/when I do start looking.

The stories I have from this year.

1st semester alone:

Bomb threat, gun brought on campus, knife on campus, 3 separate gang brawls (8+ individuals fighting), I can't even count the regular fights they pop off so quick I've lost count.

I switched schools mid year because I moved but then there was mass quarantines after Christmas, the removal of masks then masks brought back and then removed again permanently.

Just finished up state testing today and for some dumb a** reason Va sets up their state assessments in a time period in which you still have 2 and a half weeks of school left AFTER they test.

So now you basically have to manage kids for 3 weeks with no grading or assignments and we start laptop collection after Memorial Day weekend so I have no clue how I'm going to teach Microsoft Office and Computer Science with no computers available but whatever.

Also this is my last full year teaching. I'm going to sign my contract for next year as a backup plan but if I find another job before the Fall I'm out. I know a sinking ship when I see one.

This is where we are man. One whole month left with unmotivated humans in the entire building.

It's the dumbest schedule I've ever witnessed. In North Carolina exams were the last week of school. After exams it's the summer.

Now we're just wasting time telling people not to do stupid s*** all day.

Last Friday, this fool had something listed with the starting bid at $30. He also had an option to make an offer, so I offered $20. He then countered with $60. He stated that my offer was a low-ball offer.

He then had the audacity to revise the starting bid price by jacking it up to $50 immediately after he was dissatisfied with my $20 offer. I think it's detrimental business conduct to raise a listing price if a seller isn't satisfied with what they could get. It just looks bad if a potential buyer already saw a lower price initially, then it's raised later on. Just stay consistent with whatever is listed without making unfavorable revisions.

This guy clearly doesn't understand the concept of negotiation because people aren't going to give him what he wants automatically. They're going to come in with a lower amount than what's initially listed or conveyed. Like my good friend said, "You get what you negotiate.". If he wanted to get more, then he should have listed a higher initial price so that a potential buyer would have to offer a higher amount.

My offer was $20, which was $10 off his $30 starting bid price, how was I low-balling him? Why should I have offered $30 or more? Now, if I offered $10 or less, then that's absolutely low-ball.

He was asinine to counter with $60. If I offered $10 less than what he wanted, why would I accommodate his unreasonably jacked up offer?

Another asinine aspect with him is that he keeps reiterating that the retail value was $130 in messages between us. Regular price is irrelevant if something is used, especially if it's being resold. You'll never get full price or close to what you paid for if you're reselling something used or unpopular.

Bruh some sellers are delusional...

A lot are misinformed, thinks just because they see an item they're selling listed at a certain price (extremely high for no reason and been listed forever) that they can sell it for that same amount.

Recent example:

1.) Someone has a BUY IT NOW or best offer at $50. This item sells regularly at about $35-40. I make an offer for $35 which is a fair price, he gets insulted and counter offers with $50 (same buy it now price). I decline and message the dude, why even have a "or best offer" option if you're not going to sell it any less than your buy it now price? He says I'm a low baller and he knows what he has. Later that day someone was selling the same item for $25 buy it now in better condition. I buy it and im happy. Now the dude that said I low balled him and wouldn't take anything less than $50 is now messaging me and wanting to sell it to me at $35...I told that fool I already bought one for $25 and showed him my transaction lol. I even showed him other listings that listed after his that is below his buy it now price. Idiot.

2.) Someone has an item for $100 shipped. I message the seller that I'm a serious buyer and i'll offer $80. He says ok. He changes the $100 shipped to $80 and $20 shipping. Mind you this item was sitting for the longest so this was definitely a clown move. To this day, he still has that item sitting for sale and it's like at $75 shipped and still not moving.

To even further these clown's mentality, when I buy it for cheaper than my offer that was shot down by them, they have the nerve to message me sell mine and buy theirs so "we both win." wtf?

seen this earlier.

relevant but on the opposite end why do low ballers always say "cash in hand" like it changes the fact that it's not the amount of cash that was asked for.

recently sold a truck and dudes were messaging me half the asking price most in all caps like that makes a difference too.

there are idiot sellers like that. don't put an offer option if you are not willing to negotiate. since he did that on purpose, might as well do another bid for $.01 .

In my experience eBay sellers are actually a lot more generous than Mercari and OfferUp with negotiating. There are some sellers though that are delusional even when you tell them about what their items have sold for in the past.

Also the new $600 selling limit to fill out a W9 on the apps are bs. I don’t trust them with my info.
