the thread about nothing...

They need to let the referee **** die tho. I never seen a women dress as Ghostface tho. That seems counter intuitive. Its usually still warm here so women in Houston just use Halloween as an excuse to let the cheeks out. A friend of mine was Cammy from Street Fighter. Had the red gloves and all. I was impressed on multiple levels. :pimp:

Right
I guess now since we are in a OF age the idea gets repetitive like damn you were Velma before Halloween season (it’s a bunch of those on my TL)
I’ve seen some Cammy’s and Chun Li’s

Should I be offended? Well heres the story my company is having a Christmas party on December 1st at a nice place with food, raffles, casino night and open bar... I help get the vendors paid by sending the purchase orders to our finance department and to the vendors like the people catering the party, paying the restaurant and the casino night...so they send a save the date last Friday and everyone in the company gets the email... its one of those group emails where you email the whole company and everyones email is on there... well everyone got it except me and I only found out because my manager and coworker were talking about it... I was like I never got it... I told my coworker to forward me the email and sure enough I'm not on there...so yes I was salty about not getting invited because I helped set this thing up... and I was planning on going too... but now Im turned off by not getting invited and dont want to go... my manager said don't worry another coworker of mines didnt get invited last year and still went... but I don't want to go on principle... they are indian and having a diwali event for lunch in our cafeteria on 11/10... it will be catered with inidan and american food... I was like I'm not going to that either and will buy myself a steak lunch just to be petty since I know they don't eat beef...

That seems more like a communication fail than a personal attack...unless there's stuff you're not telling us. I work in an office, I've moved departments a few times and now I have my own specific title so getting left out of email chains happen. It sucks. Especially when crucial information goes out and you don't find out about it until after the fact, but I dont take it personally.

Theres really nothing else to add really… I’m cool with the people I deal with no beef there and have a good repoire… I started in December in 2022 so I don’t know everyone here and pretty much keep to myself… I do think this one incident that wasn’t even my fault might have played a part but maybe I am overthinking it… so we order supplies for our office all the time from Uline…when you spend a certain amount of money 300, 500, 750, 1000, 1500 etc you can pick a free item from there… so my manager usually picks it out and will give it to the manager of the department we are ordering supplies for and let them raffle it off… my manager decides to get rayban sunglasses and I told the rep at uline to send to the corporate office and put it attention to under my name…so the package comes and the receptionist gives it to HR… I said why would you do that if its in my name? She tried to play dumb and said there was no name on there… the reception told the VP of HR that I had a attitude when really I just asked her a question… so the VP of HR talks to my manager and had a meeting about this situation conveniently when I’m out on PTO…my manager defends me and says those sunglasses were for another department and he said the 3 years he’s worked at the company HR never raffles off anything like they say they do so he was hinting that they keep stuff to themselves… ever since we have sent the free item to our other locations and never the corporate office after this happen…so not sure if HR is holding a grudge against me or not…

Got two situations like this at work right now

My coworker is retiring. His replacement is on board right now getting trained...the GM of our branch sent my retiring coworker and his replacement an email asking for key initiatives for 2024...but not I. *insert Big Ben OH gif*. I feel some type of way about that due to particular circumstances around the situation...essentially boils down to me feeling like my co-worker's replacement is the guy they want whereas I was the guy that was available.

2nd situation...coworker retiring? Well, we're gonna put something together for his retirement that isn't company based but obviously we're gonna invite co-workers. Someone who works at our company and was invited ruined the surprise telling my retiring coworker about the get together. So I spill the beans...then it's the dreaded "well, who do want there" and sure enough the retiring coworker wants some people but not everyone.

So I put together an email for the folks he wants to be there. I blind copied everyone. Don't want folks to see who did or who didn't get an invite. But I'm sure word of mouth will spread and the folks who didn't get an invite will think I'm an *******...

Nahh. Sounds like the receptionist just doesnt know whats going on and tried to shift blame by saying you had an attitude. Im sure every adult knows that.

Don’t know why but this random memory popped into my head the other day.

The first job I had after optometry school was in a mall place - lenscrafters sort of thing. It was a fairly small one - just the manager, a floor assistant, technician and me. The floor assistant had been with us a month or so at this point and the other 3 of us had been working together for about 6 months. There was always a weird thing between the professional staff and basically the retail people - obviously I got paid a whole lot more than them and that was probably a big part of it.

It had become a thing that on a Friday someone bought donuts or cupcakes from the baker not far away. One week I had been busy and when I was done I found my coworkers eating jam donuts with one sitting there - I said thanks and picked it up. As I took a bite the new girl said “I bought that for my boyfriend”. I just looked at her and said “sorry, didn’t realise, I’ll go get another one” - and went and bought one.

The next week I said I think it’s my turn and went and bought cupcakes for everyone. Didn’t say anything or make a big deal of it but she looked pretty embarrassed when she was offered one by one of the others.

Anyway; she got let go a couple weeks later - she was useless but it was really because we couldn’t take the stink from her feet anymore.
