The Ultimate Soccer Thread 2010-2011 VOL. Premier league, La Liga, Serie A & Bundesliga

As much as I love the fact that we got the win I'm unhappy with the way we played for most of the game; way too conservative. I'm not sure if it was Pep's order to avoid Real's congested midfield or if we missed Iniesta's ability to create, but the first half was a real bore. We put very little effort into pushing forward, even when Madrid was down to 10 men. I support this team all the way but there was too much overreacting on fouls. With all that said, I'll take the 2 away goals win. I just hope for a cleaner and more attractive game at Camp Nou.

I actually loved the way we played, keep the ball away and force madrid to chase.

If we attacked every possession theres no doubt in my mind madrid would of caught us on the counters. just like they did the past 2 games.

That game was everything that's wrong with football.

Diving around like little girls the whole game what an awful advertisement for the game. And I'm talking about both teams.

The Spanish league makes me sick sometimes.

Exactly! During the first half, both teams were trying to take on anything that would give them a slight advantage. Both teams were flopping but it was going both ways. DiMaria was acting like he was getting hit by a car every time he bumped into someone. You can say ALL you want about the flops/red card/tactics BUT if a man is able to score on your whole defensive line...then you have a problem. Messi took on 4 defenders and no one stopped him! You cannot blame that on the referee or flops. You cannot blame terrible defense and Messi capitalized on both  opportunities

I'm a Barca fan who doesn't like Alves, Busquets, and Pedro because they play like @#$@#@, but come on...Madrid has 2 of the WORST floppers on earth in Di Maria and Ronaldo

Not to mention how dirty Madrid plays. Even in the Copa del Rey last week Xabi Alonso got away with what was certainly a yellow/possibly a red when Messi was headed towards the goal

And EPL fans don't act like you don't have your fair share of flop artists. From the top of my head

Drogba
Van Persie
Gerrard
Torres
Nani
Joe Cole
Rooney (not as much anymore)

That was kind of a +%%%!$% disgrace, to quote Sir Drogba.

Too much flopping, whining, etc. Poor decisions by the ref.

@ Alves.

Messi's moment of brilliance was the only redeeming quality.

Barca have to be through. Not sure how I feel about a Barca/Utd final.

Side note: Curt Menefee gets on my nerves.

Alves definitely exaggerated but how is that NOT a dirty @#$ play right there?

Complaining about refs, when last year he himself took advantage of how Bojan's goal for Barca was disallowed? As well as Milito's offside goal? Incorrect offside ruling and multiple penalty calls missed against Arsenal? Barca playing 10 vs 10 against Chelsea, with a handball not called? Theres alot of bad calls that don't go Barca's way but we don't @#$%@ about it.

And how the @#$% do you not call out your defense for allowing ONE dude to tear them to shreds? There were 5 dudes surrounding Messi on his 2nd goal

^It was a wreckless challenge but it wasn't like Pepe was intentionally trying to take his leg off.  Why not a yellow? You don't think the whole squad running to the official influenced his decision? There were worse tackles that happened that should have been booked, but he let them go.  The whole match changed after he got the red card.  Barca had full control of the midfield and Messi was a beast.  His last goal was all class.

The blame has to land on Mourinho too.  You're at home, you're coming off a championship win, and you don't come out with any aggression..

Pedro and Busquets flopping were terrible.  That's why there's such a negative view on soccer here in the States because when people do get to see a match they see that garbage.  These dudes are acting like they've been gunned down

.. Even the announcers were talking %@!! at half time.

I ain't saying Real players don't flop either, chill.

Seriously there is no justification for today's match at all, not even by highlighting any misdeeds in the past.  That was disgusting to watch as a football fan.
BOTH teams dived and flopped it was a poor game in that sense.
The difference Barca got some magic from Messi.

Mourinho's post match speech is what he does, he got you a Barca fan heated and probably got alot of others too.  Next game the ref's will be a little bit different.

Will it be a Barca v United final, very possible.  Both won away from home in the first leg 2-0.
