The Ultimate Soccer Thread 2012-2013 Vol. 3 Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga etc

Alex Song for David Villa + 2mil basically. I'm surprised they'd let him go that easily.

*edit Seen a couple "reports"(semi-legitimate twitter sources) that Liverpool had been lined up to sign Villa last year but they opted out when he broke his leg. Is it just me or does that sound completely non-sensical/ridiculous?

United wanted him, when he was the main striker for Barca. The deal didn't go through cause Barca really needed him under Pep. Under Tito, that changed (coupled with injury). Liverpool might have been interested, but a 31 year old striker who hasn't played in the prem, just coming off injury could have been seen as too risky.

I'm a huge fan of Villa. (I've always said he's your favorite strikers, favorite striker) but I think signing him (even if it's for a 2 year deal) at 31 coming off injury is a big risk. A big club like Barce says they don't need him (and I haven't seen another big club interested-I may be wrong here), why would another "big club" want him?

If I were Wenger, I would have put far more energy into signing someone like Lewandowski. Young but seasoned, talented, proven and still alot of years left in him. Plus he's used to playing quick passing football.

"Would love to see Torres' reaction to that"
@FootballFunnys: It's taken Demba Ba 30 minutes to score his first goal for Chelsea, it took Fernando Torres 23 games.

Vidic hasn't been marshalling his defence well today...that second goal was his fault... :{

4 mins of Fergie-time.

But really, they need to convert these opportunities.

Damn..Torres is going back to the bench LOL. Poor dude. Please Rodgers, bring him back to Anfield. Nino will forever be my dude *Sad face*

Vidic's form is a cause for concern for me...
firstly,i thought he should be winning those aerial challenges...also looked a little sluggish at times during the game and got himself booked for a needless foul on a West Ham player...

and for all his hard work,Kagawa looked a little lost out there...
i also think he should be taking risks in the final third...i don't think he registered a single shot on goal today,did he?

Fergie played kagawa out of position again tho.. with rooney gone he should be playing high, directy behind the striker. This means they can only play a single forward ahead of him, playing chico and welbz forced kawaga too far back. I would have left chico out since danny was really in need of a game. Vidic and Valencia were awful today and what a pass from giggsy..

Love how arsenal fans are comparing their team last yr to our current team.. remind me when arsenal lead the league by 7 points? Yes, RVP has been a blessing but you cannot compare the depth and experience of united to arsenal..
