I was thinking about this yesterday.I doubt it would happen but imagine he dropped these pop albums to move units then dropped mixtapes like the ogs for the old fans. Man that'd be awesome.
I have a feeling dude has a ton of tracks reminiscent of Enemy, Often, the Birds Interlude, etc. Aint eem gonna get em.
I just really thought Doc would be on here as well. They must have some real differences man...New Illangelo production on the album.

That KOTF line man.. man I thought they was really bykeIdk what happened but there definitely ain't no solving it.
I remember he shouted out Doc on KOTF, saw photos of them in the studio together but then after some time Doc gets on Twitter sub tweeting about the whole situation saying he doesn't wanna sell out.
He probably wanted to take things in a different direction musically than they ended up going, it's a shame though because IMO he still has the best chemistry with Doc and ILLANGELO.
They coulda went so much further into the sound they were creating.
Still not doubting the young king but what could've been.

I was crushed when Doc started Tweeting out subs about selling out. Damn SHAME
I will re-word this a bit, I think he has refined the drug content and references but it's still there. The true essence of HOB and the tapes I feel like are gone, perhaps forever (the long lead ins, the long outros of singing about nothing, the tracks without a chorus etc.). That essence of the sound and production made me feel high in itself without being under the influenceDude said he wanted to be the biggest star on the planet. I guess Doc didn't agree with going in that direction. Can't blame Doc for that. Weeknd built a strong foundation with him and Illangelo. Ultimately, this project will reflect dude's wanting to be a star, rather than the drugged out, never pictured, depressed Canadian guy we all came to appreciate. Departing from that is reflective of someone selling out. The saving grace comes in the fact that Weeknd decided to keep writing his own stuff rather than letting those producers do it for him. It is what it is at this point. I'm going to ride with homie, but I'm not tricking myself believing that this will be reminiscent of the old stuff. We can't have that era back I suppose. Even if we don't agree with the kid, all we can do is respect his decision, support the music, and take it for what it's worth. Whether this project is godly or not, we'll always have four incredible bodies of work to fall back on. If he doesn't deliver, then I'm sure we're all object enough to conclude that as a community. Some won't remain fans, some will. Time'll tell. Regardless of how it goes down, we're 22 days away.
Happy Thursday, btw.
