of course people in here are still upset that Lavar attempted to create his own brand :lol:.

Don’t do this, man. I think folks were mostly turned off by customers getting a different looking shoe, some customers not getting a shoe at all and the ridiculous price point which as evidenced by its star athlete that the shoes were trash in terms of quality. Changing shoes quarterly is an absurd notion so imagine how consumers would feel after dropping $495 on an inferior product.

two things those were literally the first batch that were defective, they went on to improve them later and Zo was able to play in them just fine.

Secondly, most of this backlash came before their was any review of the product at all. People were just bashing the idea of a new kid coming into the NBA & starting a family business instead of just taking a check. Lavar and his business partners fumbled the execution but this is normal for first time business owners and companies. growing pains & learning curves, i'm just glad lavar made the attempt so hopefully down the line someone actually executes it better.

Really Lavar gotta improve the tech because Lamelo is coming.

At the same time he could have fumbled the bag with the poor service, quality and Lonzo ultimately ditching the shoe

Japan played lockdown defense all game. A couple more rebounds for them and we are looking at an entirely different outcome.

I never saw the video until this morning. He called for back-up without a second thought, and the amount of time he spent going back and forth with him he could've written him the ticket and both of their nights would've been wrapped up right there, real simple.

I think the fact they came out with a $495 dollar shoe with pretty much no experience and likely no industry connects in the beginning. That’s the main thing I’m knocking them on. In retrospect with how his career is panning out, that $10MM could be missed when you look at his total earnings at the end of his career.

On the back of his sons career, nothin' much tho

On the back of his sons career....... as if his son didn't have ownership of it also. Yes let a multi billion dollar company build their brand off your career, but god forbid you & your parents build a brand to own and grow off your basketball career

I'm sure this was Lonzo's idea and everyone's just hating on them for having the courage to do their own thing. Typical, of us tbh

Cute. Very cute.

all i do know the media has been trying to spin Lavar as a detriment to his kids this entire time, or make it seem like he's using them for "fame" when every account from the kids seems to state otherwise.

I’m not sure if you were being facetious but if you were cereal, I’m not so sure about that. Im happy to see new minority owned business, particularly in fields where we have little to no representation; however can we agree that as you mentioned, the intentions were pure for the most part just everything about it was poorly executed outside of the hype/buzz they were able to generate.

Do any of you work in the sneaker industry? If so realistically, how long of planning/lead time would you need to start a reasonably successful shoe company from scratch to actually shipping out pairs on a mass basis?
