It's hard to judge this team. They have indeed showed character. They haven't taken shortcuts. Their intensity to start games could've been better. And it was curious that Popovich didn't hold a full practice for nearly two weeks despite a number of players struggling with shooting; the extra work might've paid off. They never bought into the ball-movement offense Popovich tried to install in training camp and it made them easier to guard. But honestly, these are nitpicks.

I mean Spain took the ‘08 & ‘12 teams down to the wire and those were our A teams.

It looks like there’s just no substitute for top end talent in these offseason tournaments.

I didn’t watch enough of the games to comment on Pop’s coaching. Roster construction definitely was an issue, but I don’t know how much that can be blamed on Colangelo and Pop since so many guys dropped out.

Also on FIBA, I think the team losing Tatum was a bigger deal than we’ve been acknowledging. Not saying they necessarily win it all if he was available, but he likely would have helped.

According to other NBA players he’s one of the strongest and hardest to guard driving to the hole.
