Don't understand how/why Elton Brand has a job.

I didn’t understand it at all when he was hired. I said right then I thought he’d just be a puppet to whatever Brett Brown and Co wanted to do. Brett was basically the assistant GM for all these moves so I have no idea whose idea was what at this point.

Reminds me of my mom and siblings when she used to force us to smile at family vacations after yelling at us.

Masai can get $100M from the Knicks, fall on his face and come away clean because it's the Knicks. I see the upside.

I'm sure the Raps would offer him just about whatever he wants too (ownership stake, money etc) to keep him if he asked.

Dude is a winner, can't see the appeal the Knicks would have when it comes to anything basketball related.

We already saw how another career/serial winner in Phil ended up damaging his legacy trying to steer that ****show of a franchise .

They legit only have $ to offer, not much else in terms of professional fulfillment

Masai is like 15 months away from potentially being able to pair Giannis with Siakam and FVV. On top of that, his team is currently the 2 seed.

He's not going to the Knicks.

**** changes. This summer the Grizzlies didn’t know they were gonna be the 8th seed right now and potentially playing one of those LA teams he wants to be traded to in the first round. They’re definitely not trading him to either of those teams anymore, so unless somebody out East offers something decent then he’ll probably end up just sitting out the year.

Okay if **** changes that works both ways.... so iggy has the right to sit out the season if they aren't willing to deal him to a team he asked for, and they alienate future agents and players from signing with them.

Sure there are some things that he could probably be doing better, but his GM did an absolute disastrous job of giving him a roster that makes sense in present day basketball. Starting Thighbull (a guy who can't dribble or pass) instead of Horford isn't the be all end all answer. They don't have a PG or anyone that can shoot. All of their good players want to play out of the post. That is entirely Elton Brand's doing.
Brown was the one declaring Simmons to be a PG. everyone knew that wasn’t the case. Fultz was drafted because he was a PG that could move Simmons off ball (until he broke his shoulder). Jimmy was brought in to be that guy but Brown wanted Jimmy to be a spot up shooter hence the backlash from last season.

I wouldn't do it myself, but I see the appeal:

-Bring back the Knicks
-Connections in NY (Giants of Africa foundation)
-Already succeeded in Toronto
-Filthy rich

It makes absolutely no sense but we'll see

I'm looking forward to the Pelicans Bucks game tonight but I'm also cringing because I'm already picturing Giannis carving the defense to pieces.

It will be interesting to see if Zion and Giannis collide at any point and whether a nuclear explosion ensues from said collision.

It will also be doubly interesting to see if Pels fixes the issue of Zion's lack of touches in the fourth. I know he's just a rookie but the vets got to understand he got to get the ball.

Good point about Brown, no one improved under him. In fact, everyone regressed (J Rich, Horford and Tobi)

Then you think of Grant and Holmes and how they are doing.

Brand is also another obvious problem. And the people who hired Brand are to blame, they wanted control, they have it.

Look at Toronto, Boston and Miami, they have an amazing development team, Brown being so raw was able to develop while not sacraficing Ws with the learning curve AND playing with two other stars who play the same position.

Siakim, FVV, OG etc...improvement throughout the board, the Raps won by drafting right and developing right (mixture of drafts and trades actually)

Miami, they took no name players and look at them now.

What do the Sixers got? We trade away our good draft picks (Cov, Shamet, Dario, Holmes, Grant) for star chasing and overpay to retain these stars that don't fit.

It's just bad overall. The process was meant to give GMs a clean slate and look how it turned out, peices that don't fit, no cash flexibility and no real assets to trade.

Gotta love the Knicks timing of firing their GMs:

Fire Phil days after the draft and on the eve of free agency
Fire Mills days before the trade deadline
ever think perhaps the trade deadline decisions spurred the recent firing?

This is why Brown has to go. The star hunting stuff was all him. After Fultz failed as a starter last year, ownership wanted change and Brand was probably forced to make that deal hence the overpays.

Overachieving in 17-18 is what ****** us up. Had we finished 45-37 instead of 52-30 and got bounced in round 1, our window would’ve been perceived correctly as almost there instead of thinking it was ours for the taking
