The #'s are what they are. You ain't making no sense.
Throughout the early 60's Wilt's FG% was 46-52%. The efficiency in the league at that time was that great. Bill Russell shot terrible from the field for a Center. So Wilt shooting 48% wasn't no dip, especially considering he was playing against a team full of HOF players.
And if you read I didn't say Bill ONLY won because of his team. He was the most valuable player on that HOF roster but nah he wasn't better than Wilt. The league never saw anything like Wilt til over 30 years later with Shaq. For all his scoring dominance and rebounding Wilt changed his game and led the league in assist. Dude was different.
Yeah, I don't agree, Wilt was an overrated offensive player who didn't make his teammates better due to his inability to play as a scorer and passer at the same time.
Given the era, the emphasis on center offense and Wilt's individual offensive brilliance, his team lack of impact on the teams overall offensive performance is just a giant indictment on him.
7th (8 team league)
6th (8 team league)
4th (8 team league)
5th (9 team league)
7th (9 team league)
9th (9 team league)
He gets traded, the Warriors subtract Wilt and add Rick Barry and they improve to 7th.
7th, 5th, 6th, 1st , 4th
Wilt Gets traded to the Lakers and the Sixers put up the same offensive rating without Wilt.
If Wilt Chamberlain was really this incredibly effective offensive weapon, he should have had a bigger impact on his teams performance, despite his teammates.
and if the teammates were really the problem, how come the teams he left, improved on offense or performed the same when he was traded away?
Bill Russel on the other hand and his incredibly amazing teammates, were a, below average to dead last on defense until the day he arrived and then guess what happened to the defense? finished
1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st
different teamates, the result is always the same, the number 1 defense.
It was *mostly* Bill man,
his teammates have gotten totally overrated over time because they had the privilege of standing next to Bill Russell.
