I know it's preseason but City looked good

A mix of buildup and direct play running between defenders if Sterling continues to play the way he did.

My introduction to Diaz who looked great for them. Oscar with the golazo for us.

I swear man these young footballers with the scouting and training they get from a young age are going to be better than the current generation.

Danilo also looked like he had a huge burden lifted off his shoulders leaving RM and showed he has a heck of a left foot on him for a RB with one cross he whipped in.

Looked into Diaz because his name also caught my interest:

Brahim Abdelkader Diaz is eligible to play for Morocco as well as Spain through his parents.

So that's cool Morocco had both him and Hakimi out there. Two Spanish/Moroccans.

Yea his ability to cross with his left caught me off guard I knew people said he was two footed but now I believe it. He really can cover left and right back from what it seems.

Yeah I hope it's temporary, but Onalfo needed to go, he was a terrible manager.
and good hire by LAFC

To be fair to Bob, there are only a handful of coaches in the world who'd offer an MLS expansion franchise better chances of success than Bob Bradley and they're all elite managers in the world context, who would also have the 1/1000 temperament, humility and open mindedness to navigate MLS and it's off shoot structure and culture a la Tata Martino.

Boby is a great guy for the job, but the coincidental nature of the news of his hiring breaking within hours of the hiring of Sigi across town, at a time when MLS is getting deservedly bashed left and right for it's exclusionary nature and lack of diversity at the organizational level, is almost too much.

Then there are LAFC's strong efforts to market them selves as some thing outside of that status quo ever since being founded.

Add on top of that the iron that Bob rose to prominence coaching Chivas USA, LAFC's precursor, it's pretty funny given the timing.

Eh I don't really care for the opinions that the MLS is exclusionary...the soccer world in general recycles coaches like crazy.

Speaking of ether

Koeman is NOT a fan of dude at all :

It's not an opinion, it really is a fact.

Whether we're talking about pro/rel at the competition level or USSF/MLS/SUM at the organizational level, the pro landscape in this country is exclusionary and it's been scrutinized for it with the successful D2 clubs taking the lead in pushing for discourse.

Sure other sports and leagues recycle retread coaches but there's an ongoing discussion right now deservedly scrutinizing the entire pro system. Lack of diversity and exclusionary hiring practices at the top organizational levels are intertwined within that debate, it's not just pro/rel.

Only way to be an MLS coach:

1) Achieved legendary NCAA coaching status in the 80's/90's

2) Have had a playing career in the league, ideally under the umbrella of a coach who falls under the aforementioned category.

*Rare exceptions are Veljko Paunovic, Tata Martino, and Patrick Vierra.

I'm going to coach little league and put these FM17 skills to real use

Radja extends his contract with Roma until 2021.

If you ask me this is the best signing for us this window.

Little league has to be dead, I haven't seen a baseball field in use in my city in decades and town is littered with them just taking up space.

There's a Sunday rec league near where I live. I'm not too sure how many fields they use but there's one near me that hasn't been taken care of in years so they bring their own goals and set up every weekend. A shame because the kids and their parents really enjoy getting together every Sunday. Driving/walking by I see so many kids out there but the county isn't taking care of our parks. I'm not even sure who cuts the grass out there. The parents might get together to take care of it

And baseball... man don't get me started on the trash baseball fields and tennis courts they got around here

Little league basketball and football are the only sports I know of, at least in my county, that are really invested into. Surrounding counties may be different though

Reminds me of when Arsene said extending Walcott was basically like getting a new transfer

Not saying you're wrong in your assessment and others assessment as well, but I find it highly unrealistic that the MLS can just pluck foreign managers here and there, because well, it's an American league for the most part, and two, foreign managers tend to want to manage more premier European clubs.
Do I wish that the league would be more diverse organizational wise? Yeah, but it's going to be a slow process, especially for a league with not much history.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for a need of foreign managers in MLS at all. We have virtually endless diversity right here at home amongst our American coaching base.

I'm just saying it's not really an opinion to say that MLS and its structure, and by extension USSF, are exclusionary across multiple platforms. There is a lot of evidence that supports that statement as fact.

It's complex, it's bureaucratic, it needs to be more meritocratic, but we're actually seeing change faster than I ever thought possible, I just thought it was funny that Sigi Schmid of all people gets hired today, and then hours a later across town it's revealed that Bob is also hired.

Hearing Taylor Twellman talk basketball on SportsNation is some experience...
