i say td is pretty close to hakeem as of right now. accomplishment wise, about the same if td's not better.

ppl think td skill level isn't as high as those great players, mainly because he's not "athletic" but he does little things so well that we can't really see.



1. I put a lot of value in what I watch and I watch quite a bit of basketball nationwide. League pass FTW. but besides that, Kobe has been stated as thebest player in his basketball league by his peers for a bit now. Duncan has never been the consensus best player in the league really ever since he'sjoined the NBA, so like I said earlier all that hardware don't tell the full story. There are plenty of greats who are underrated b/c of their mild"accomplishments" and a bunch of dudes who are overrated b/c of their not so mild "accomplishments". So "accomplishment" wise TDis far ahead of Hakeem, but Hakeem was able to do everything Duncan did but better. He just played in a more dominant big man era and he also played in the MJera

and yea obviously accomplishments mean something, but I feel like a lot of people put too much emphasis on hardware. Kobe is probably looked at as maybetop 25 or so, but I guarantee if he got even just 1 ring, let alone a few more, he would skyrocket, but Kobe really hasn't gotten that much better. Histeam is just better which proves a lot of it is just good situations. my judgement comes from watching people play when it comes to anyone post the mid tolate 80s cuz I was born in 84

a big man era wasnt necessary for Duncan as there was one particularly nasty big man he had to meet up with every season in the playoffs.

With this guy's skill level, if he played with energy like an Amare or KG, he would be unstoppable, instead he decides to be stiff as a board.

ENOUGH with this whole energy/intensity thing. It's mind boggling.

It is extremely puzzling to me that anyone with a fully developed and functioning adult mind cant comprehend the difference between energy/intensity andtheatrics.

Duncan does the exacty same things as the others do at the exact same level.

However because when he catches an ally oop he just flushes and runs back down court instead of pulling his arm way back then yelling afterwards that means hetried less?

When he hits a clutch j but doesnt pound his chest like a gorilla afterwards that means he tried less?

When he's in a close game and he doesnt waive the crowd to 'pump it up' he's trying less?

If he did all that crap then suddenly 15 more points and 8 more rebounds suddenly jump onto his career numbers?

Duncan has 21 ppg, 12 rebs, 3 ast, and 2.5 blocks for his CAREER, which spans over a decade.

He did that by not trying 100%?

Cram it through your thick heads that it is NOT A MATTER OF ENERGY/PASSION/INTENSITY.

IT IS SIMPLY A MATTER OF THEATRICS AND STYLE OF PLAY.

Seriously its sad that such a simple concept cant be grasped by so many.

again, I am referring to his peers. people who have played against him. people who have played with him. all of the league's superstars andcoaches. the consensus is Kobe has been the best player in the league for a bit now. I can't recall any other players saying Duncan was the best outsideof SA. now all of those casters, writers, columnists, and all that I can care less what like 90% of them have to say. but even if we factor them in, a goodamount of them say Kobe too. in all honesty there are people on this forum and in who are better sports minds than a lot of them dudes. obviously the onesthat played and all have a pretty good opinion, but when u get these Hollinger type dudes and all that with all these stats and just the dudes who are in thebusiness purely for charisma, they will say the first thing that comes to their mind without ever thinking how foolish it'd sound.

As for the 2nd statement, see the problem is you equating "success" with hardware. I'm telling you that hardware isn't a measure of success. Hakeem could do EVERYTHING DUNCAN DID BUT BETTER. THERE IS NOTHING DUNCAN CAN DO HAKEEM COULDN'T. Shoot,dribble, free throws, pass, rebound, defend, block shots, breathe, whatever u want to say Hakeem did it better. Ducanjust happened to be in a better situation than Hakeem his entire career. I aint a big stat guy, but let me lay it out for u with emphasis on importance:

Very comparable career numbers. Then factor in Hakeem playing against MUCH better competition every year. Then factor in Hakeem's demise which kicked inaround 97. Duncan is going to have to really show me something serious to even hold a torch to Hakeem. It's not really even close. 3. You should probably read the entire post to find out the context of why Duncan and Hakeem were compared. I used Hakeem as an example of someone who hasplayed better by far and has less hardware

But trust, I know hes probably the best PF to ever lace the kicks. I did love, however, when he showed real emotion after hitting the game winner in theseplayoffs, I forget who it was against.
