what else is there to do? i want to catch some live music and good grub is a must...can someone point me in the right direction?

i last went to New Orleans maybe a year or two before Katrina for a bachelor party trip. awesome time. Just taking a stroll down Bourbon and you'll do fine for food and drinks . . . and if it's your cup of tea, there's tons of strip clubs . . .

Right off the top of my head some of the typical tourist mainstays . . . coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde, raw oysters at ACME Oyster House, hand grenades at Tropical Isle . . .

I LOVED the coffee down there, i think it's chicory that they use, it's a distinct taste that I associate with New Orleans . . .

Just like all the others stated, Bourbon Street pretty much is the late night spot of New Orleans, always busy and never a dull moment. Alot of attractions there, but I would say go in early Feb. when the Super Bowl is in town, yambs galore :smokin I'll definitely be in town than as I am currently in the Air Force stationed at Barksdale. If you're into sneakers, they also have a few nice spots around town and Baton Rouge has a pretty good Nike Outlet.

that po boy looks bomb..

any clubs or nicer lounges? Bourbon is fun, but some of these folks may want to have a fun night out..

Here's where you should go, from a New Orleanian. First, Bourbon and all that is cool, but you gotta venture off to Decatur and check out the entire French Quarter. There are LOTS of other clubs and food spots than Bourbon. Do NOT eat on Bourbon Street. I highly recommend Louisiana Pizza Kitchen. It's right at the beginning of the French Market in the Quarter. Crawfish Etouffee Pizza and the Jambalaya Pizza

It is some the best food I've ever eaten. Mother's is legit too. Go to Deanie's in Lakeview too. Some of the best seafood in the damn city.

If you're gonna be in town for a Saints game, after or during the game, walk down Poydras towards the rivers. Lots of bars, food places, hotels, etc. It also leads to Harrah's Casino which is on Canal St. Pretty much leads up to the French Quarter which makes that walk a good one. Also, check on nola.com for festival dates or concerts because something's always poppin off down here.

Peace..

im staying at harrah's this time...i like that river area... good food...cant wait to have that craw fish..

I went once on a conference when I worked at Starbucks. Ate tons of food. Mothers was great.

Broad Street Discount Market! I remember the first time I convinced a buddy to get a loaf poboy from there, 10 bucks and we had to put it on the dashboard of the truck it was so big.

if you're coming now, don't have ANY crawfish, it's out of season so any dishes that have it will be using frozen stuff.

if you're looking for some nicer lounges than the stuff you'll find on Bourbon check out the following places:

Bar Tonique at 820 North Rampart
Cure on Freret Street WAY uptown
Sazerac Bar at the Roosevelt Hotel

Mother's is nice, but you gotta check out Willie Mae's scotch house. It's the best fried chicken I've ever had.
