Just got a note ii after being an iphone user for 5 years. I was expecting a mind blowing experience but its really not all that different. I haven't played around with it too much but so far heres the main differences ive noticed

Pros
-Swype is cool as hell
-Widgets are nice to have
-Moving the cursor with the blue arrow is more convenient than iOS's magnifying glass...but less intuitive
-Screen size obviously
-vibration feedback while typing :hat
-S Pen is exactly like using a wacom tablet :hat :hat :hat cant wait to spend more time messing with it
-While typing this post I discovered the predictive text..not bad at all

Cons
-Swype is cool and all but I type way faster with auto correct on my iphone...anything like that on android?
-It doesn't feel like it has a quad core processor. Not that its necessary for anything I do with the phone but I just expected it to be faster

Any recommendations for the best browser? Messing with chrome right now. And how can I make the keyboard disappear after it pops up?

Any other tips for getting the most out of this beast?

Download the 4.1 jellybean keyboard. It has swype integrated into it, but regular typing + autocorrect is 100 times more responsive.

Just go into your Keyboard settings under your settings menu and turn on autocorrect.

If you want it to feel faster, go to development options menu and change the Window Animation Scale, Transition animation scale, and animator duration scale to 0.5x or off.  The transition animations can sometimes make it feel slower than it is.

Also, if you are experiencing home button lag, go into s-voice, hit menu ---> settings, and uncheck "Open via home key".  You should notice much faster response on your home button.

Att and vzw don't need to offer it. Fact of e matter is nobody uses voice min any more and ppl text less with twitter and text of data apps, when lte advance and voice over lte drops data is gonna be all that matters and more changes will come.

True, but neither AT&T or Verizon offer unlimited data unless you are grandfathered in, and Verizon is trying to get people off that if they buy a new subsidized device and sign a contract.
T-Mobile is going to be pushing out their LTE network this year and is expected to be as big as Verizon's. Until Verizon and AT&T actually offer unlimited data, they are only hurting themselves.

Download Swiftkey 4. Turn "Flow" on. Best typing experience I've ever had on any phone.

$70 a month for unlimited everything, Verizon and AT&T can't offer that.

My family share plan with 10GB a month is only $156 after my company discount for 3 phone lines. (maybe $180 or $190 after fees, taxes and insurance)

They may limit the GB(based on what i selected) i get per month, but they dont lower my speeds after only 500MB...........

Im sure for 10GB a month of 4G speeds, it would be ALLOT more than $70 a month. (probably like $120-130 per line)

And if you`re talking about sprint, If they ever get their FULL LTE up, it MIGHT be better..........but they are more than $70 a month (its actually $80 because they charge you for 4G speeds, smdh)

Yo, aren't you with iPhone or do you own both? I seen ya in the evasi0n thread 8o

Good to see an i0Ser in here kickin it with us. :smokin

I'm iOS everything. But I'm trying to keep up with android and stay a little more relevant in the cell phone world like I used to. I'm totally happy with my phone but I really want to stay unbiased and knowledgable on everything in the industry. :hat

I've got a while on contract so if I can stay in the loop I can make the most sound decision for what I want. Right now the note/HTC one really have my eyes wide open. I'm not opposed to the GS4 but I really wanna see it in person!

:hat Thats whats good. The One is a good look but idk bout going back to a smaller screen :( I'm currently playing with my EVO LTE right now, it's not all that bad. (Same size as the One).

I was messing with my buds 4s yesterday. It felt like the weirdest thing to see something that small. I am kind of wanting a bigger screen now. The naked phone feels weird texting with two hands now and I would like something a little larger. (I think)

for any tmobile people or people looking for a new plan...this actually looks GREAT. the question is... how much will phones be if the plan is that great?

Phones will be full price.
Small down payment and 24 monthly payments.
Option to payout early and "upgrade" again.

I work for T-Mobile Corporate.
Going to a district wide training here in San Diego this Sunday about these new plans.

No.

$70 a month is for Unlimited 4G speeds. The 500 mb is for the 50 dollar plan, unlimited 4G is an additional 20 dollars.

So for 3 Lines of unlimited it would go like this. $50+$20 for first line = $70. 2nd line is 30+20= 50. 3rd line is 10+20=30. Add that up that is 3 lines of unlimited talk, text, and unlimited data usage of 4G for $150.

That is going to be T-Mobiles new rate plans. Sure doesn't add up to "ALOT more" than what you currently pay, and there aren't any caps in data usage.
CM developers passing on Samsung Galaxy S4 - should you?
http://www.androidcentral.com/cm-developers-passing-samsung-galaxy-s4-should-you

I'm getting tired of Samsung BS myself ...can't wait til my year up

Dude, even the people who wrote this article admitted that the people who even care about stuff like this are the minority. I'll quote what they said:

What does this mean to me?

Maybe a lot, maybe nothing. In the grand scheme of things, Samsung will still sell a ******** of Galaxy S4 phones. Nine out of every ten people buying one will have no clue what CyanogenMod even is, and will never care enough to find out even if they heard mention of it. We all need to realize this every time we talk hacking. These people, along with plenty who know exactly what CM is, will happily use the stock Samsung firmware. There is nothing wrong with liking the stock Samsung firmware.

I'll say this again...Samsung and even Apple are after the mainstream dollars not the techy nerdy hacker types. Ever notice how the two companies that follow this mindset are at the top of the smartphone market? It's about making money not pleasing the nerds.
