Was MJ an average athlete??

Nostalgia is no different than being the prisoner of the moment.

But it's not a moment. There's a reason they don't compare Lebron to Magic and Larry. There's a reason that as soon as he won his first ring they started comparing him to MJ. He's that damn good. He's better than Bird. He's better than Magic. As an individual talent, this kid has one of the best packages I've ever seen.

Lebron never played in a league where they didn't call tic tax fouls, and hard fouls as flagrants and when there were real Centers in the league and when there wasn't a defensive 3 second rule.

And MJ could handcheck....and they couldn't zone him.

speak for yourself.

If Lebron were thay damn good he'd have more than 2 rings in 12 years by now. In a watered down league full of boys instead of men like it used to be.

Never said Lebron

I'm not denying LBJ's talent, far from it. I'm just saying that with the pampering her's been getting since he came into the league and change of rules, he wouldn't last an entire series against the Knicks. How many years was Jordan on his *** before he finally got over the hump? The East put him on his *** for 3, 4, 5 playoffs? He built him. Lebron isn't there mentally to get over that. He would need to go through the same and we don't know how he'd react. But comparing him to MJ is a joke. MJ evolved as a player. Only thing that I've seen LBJ evolve in is becoming a better 3 point shooter. Can he post up? Nope.

Not to mention the league is watered down because we have many more teams.

Nostalgia. The skill level in the league is higher than its ever been. The truth? A lot of cats back in the day couldn't play in this NBA. They aren't good enough.

He would baptize Larry Bird. Larry couldn't stop Lebron if his life depended on it...on his BEST day.
When was the last time the nba was one on one. Lebron couldn't guard larry either. Neither could anybody then. Especially before he got hurt.

Never said Lebron

So down 3-2 to the celtics in the playoffs when he one man ganged them? Down to the Pacers? None of that counts. Game 7 against the Spurs? Come on man....
And that was Detroit that put MJ on his *****. The Knicks had their chance and choked it away..Dunk the ball!!

And he's got his share of no shows and chokes to go with those. Sure I don't have to remind u. 2011 Mavs series worst finals performance of all time. 2010 Boston series where he quit on his team. There are others as well.

The Dallas series I will grant you. The 2010 Boston series?! Didn't he have a triple double that game? That's quitting? Aight.

I don't dislike lebron. I don't think he's a bad guy. I'm no judge of another man's character. If anything I just know he at least has the potential to do better. That's all. I believe he can get more out of his talent. Or should have already. He's been blessed with a mix of size and speed not seen by the likes of the NBA ever. Dude should be ripping through this league.

You know what I don't understand? Help me out, you seem to be a student of the history of this league. Why is it with Lebron we always go back to his failures? Back in the day, when a person broke through, it was as if everything done to that point was forgiven. The slate was wiped clean and you were a champion. There was a line...between champions and everyone else. The dude has won two finals MVPs and two rings, yet people still go back to Cleveland days and Miami's flameout. When Isiah won his two rings, we didn't go back and say yeah but you could have had three if you hadn't thrown that errant pass to Bird(I know...it was a steal:lol). When MJ won...and won...and won....they didn't go back and say, yeah but look how many times Detroit killed you. Same with Shaq. Same with Kobe. I really don't understand that.

I can't really speak for the Kobe vs lebron subject. Kobe really isn't my guy. But i think people are easier to forget things like Zeke's bad pass cause his team was beaten by a juggernaut. Magic had his finals where he was Tragic Johnson. Didn't last long tho. And Magic won a ring his 2nd year in the league. Finals MVP no Kareem game 6. Went on to win 5 within the 80s. Larry won 3 rings. Went to 4 finals in a row. Always came up big. Don't think Larry got but about a true 7-8 years prime from the moment he stepped into the league and turned the leagues worst team into the leagues team with the best overall record his rookie year without Mchale, Parish, and DJ. I think the competition those guys lost to gives them a break. Bron should have won 4 rings in MIA. "The decison" really rubbed folks the wrong way. someone else in here said Lebron kinda gets the Wilt Chamberlain treatment. Whether it be fair or not. But I'm def no expert, just a guy with an opinion and your actually older than me. And Lebron can run off 2-3 more rings if he REALLY wants too in my opinion and then I'd be moving him into bird, Magic and MJ territory. But that's just me and everybody has a different opinion on what makes a player great. To me it's all about maximizing your talents, constantly working hard on improving and evolving your game and being the leader and winning when it counts.

Even with 3 rings there is always gonna be the what could have been with Bird cause of all his injuries that he hid from the media and continued to play through and had Len Bias not died him on that Celtics team with Bird and them would have been scary.

Lol lebron never averaged 10 rebounds a game for a season much less a career either. Bird is a better passer than Lebron and it aint even close. Bird is a better shooter than Lebron and it aint even close. Bird was all defensive 2nd and 3rd team 6 times just never all first team. Not to mention bird averages 1.7 steals a game exactly like Lebron. 0.8 block a game exactly like Bron. Bird was a great team defender. I got footage to back. Bird has better highlight reels than anybody. I'm serious man. Bird did some crazy ****. Dude had eyes in the back of his head.
