Athleticism never was Larrys strong point but he still dominated anyway in a tough era. Magic was supremely athletic tho. Not to mention a 6'9 PG. Larry and Magic would do more damage in the NBA today than they did in the 80s.

I guess alot of people don't even know Larry Bird is regarded as the biggest trash talker of all time by the way. Dude wasn't just out there shootin jumpers. He was telling u about it while he was doing it to u.

Buggin, man. Bird was arguably the best player in the game at it's height. Underrated athlete, played a power position early in his career, played defense on the opposite teams best player.

And the list could go on and on about Bird's game. Only thing him and Dirk have in common is they are both White. Other than that they have two COMPLETELY different games.

The idea that Bird and Dirk don't share any similarities is ludicrous. They absolutely do...to a degree. The things that Dirk's great at, are things that Bird was great at as well. The difference is that the vice versa isn't true. The things Bird was great at, are things that Dirk isn't / wasn't. I.E. putting the ball on the floor, creating for others, rebounding, defense, etc.

are people really comparing dirk to bird? they are both white. they both have a sweet shot. bird was insanely competitive and athletic and had angry man westbrook complex while dirk gave up his contract so chandler parsons can get paid... bird is probably top 5 or else a top 10 lock... dirk's great but he shouldn't be compared to bird.

I don't think I've ever seen a passer like Bird - he could just see things before anyone else could. He's an under-rated defender too - again, he just knew what someone was going to do practically before they did.

I dunno. Magic clearly had more style but I think Bird was better. Close though.
