So Secret Wars are confirmed to be a new series but the rest aren't (yet)?

Yeah SW is a summer event.
All the other stuff so far have been teasers of something in Summer 2015 (the same time as the SW event). Could be connected, could be another What If series, could be new omnibus editions, or they could literally be launching several events at the same time in one summer

I definitely believe it wasnt part of the original plan, but its for the best. I think DC and the fact that these solo films are getting a little stale is why they did it. But yeah, they're gonna have to do something amazing with Thanos.

Wouldn't be surprised if the civil war is actually a story to coincide with the film though.

The most favorable option, one they've shown to do prefer is new actor as Spidey, no retelling of an origin, just modify what's established about his past along the way. You don't need to retell Spidey's origin, everybody knows who he is and the whole point of this is to see Spidey with the Avengers. They did it with Norton's Hulk that became Ruffalo's Hulk and they did it seamlessly with Howard as Rhodey to Don as Rhodey. That's what's less cumbersome for Marvel. Since Marvel probably isn't getting a straight up chance to do multiple solo Spidey movies they're gonna most likely go with what they've done before. Leave Garfield behind with SONY.
It's not like the Avengers are going to be fighting that lame Green Goblin or the S6. Give Marvel Spidey and a living Norman Osborn. That's it.

You still haven't proven that an anniversary poster has anything to do with Spidey crossing over in to the MCU. Not sure why you would be really. There's been no info about Secret Wars other than it's a 12 issue year long event that's been promoted as the biggest thing Marvel comics has ever attempted. If there's any excitement to be had it should be because Hickman is the writer and Ribic is the artist
What would be the point of having a new actor play spiderman of they would still have to establish where spiderman has been all this time? Marvel will still let Sony do solo spiderman films but will handle anything that has to do with spiderman meeting other heroes. I'll still let you believe that spiderman joining the MCU is all rumors though after all seeing is believing. Just remember who pieced the clues and shot the idea into this thread when it happens
As far as Secret Wars I feel like that's a legendary story that doesn't need to be touched. Hickman writing will have me intrigued but I'm not a fan of Ribic's art. It's too hyper realistic but not in a good way. I wish shinkiro did art for marvel. Capcom approaching him for marvel vs capcom 3/ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 was amazing. This is how hyper realistic marvel characters should look

They don't want anything to do with SONY's Spidey. Get a new guy that they've chosen. It'd be no different if Marvel actually got the Spidey movie rights back. Establishing where Spidey's been is separate from changing actors. Don't even have to delve in to his backstory that much. Make a joke and move on if it's not vital tot he plot of the movie. These are just crossovers. There's no need to bring the SONY trash baggage to the MCU.
If the crossover isn't literally universes colliding there's absolutely no reason to bring up establishing Spidey in the MCU anyway.

Why would Marvel want to to put a new face with their most iconic hero and run the risk of audiences being turned off when they could do everything you just said and keep Garfield? This isn't as interchangeable as Ed Norton/ Mark Ruffalo as hulk. This is Spiderman, and contrary to NT people actually did watch ASM 1 and 2 and of all the dislikes people bring up with the film, Garfield's performance has always been praised. I really like Garfield as Spiderman. He fits the gangly, smart alec role of Peter Parker to me and he's a cool guy in person (met him once

If I'm Marvel, and I get back/borrowthe rights to Spidey, I'd put out a solo movie with a new actor and integrate that into the mcu with cameos from other avengers/shield members (end credit scenes). I'd bypass the teenage Spidey and go straight to the experienced old head who's a part time teacher to distance him from all other iterations.
The high school Peter is been there, done that, twice already. Maybe make the rebooted series about an older Peter Parker mentoring Miles Morales.
There's so many ifs. I don't know why I keep discussing this, considering he may never come to the MCU.

How does everyone feel about Secret Invasion? I have been hoping they would do that ever since Gunn confirmed they had shared rights for the Skrulls. By phase 4 they should definitely have enough characters to keep us guessing who is a skrull and who isn't.

Not for the quality of the stories in the event.
Read up on it. Secret Wars wasn't even a comic driven idea. The Marketing dept asked the publisher to make a comic with all the heroes in it so that they could push the toys.
The only thing legendary about SW is that it was one of the first events that was merely another gimmick the comics industry uses to sell more comics and remain successful. That events are still used today for that reason is the only thing that's important. It's why there was a second version. To pretend like the story itself was so great it was untouchable and the title shouldn't be reused if the same publisher chooses to do so is stupid and again ridiculous.
You should think about why issue #1 sells so much. Think about the time period. Collectors and speculators ruled the day.
You just saying the cover is great is irrelevant. That cover is just among a lot of great covers. A cover doesn't make a great story. I'm wondering if you even read SW or read it recently the way you're talking about it
There's a whole lot better in the comics medium.
I like amel's idea of an older non-teenage Spidey based off the one that became a teacher and was married to MJ. I'd call up Jake Gylenhall with the quickness.
If they go with young but not HS looking young, maybe a college Spidey, I'm sure there's plenty young white male actors I don't know the name of that could do a great job. I don't got any personal favs or ppl I'm keeping an eye out for at the moment.

I wonder what the shared rights agreement for the skrulls say tho. I feel like Fox would have to use the Skrulls first, otherwise why not include them in Guardians of the Galaxy? They really went searching for aliens there. They mentioned Rajaks and A'askavariians (yes I had to look these up, I didnt even know how to spell em). And I feel like the guy in the red jumpsuit that some of you clowns thought was Beta Ray Bill in a cape was a Korbinite. Not to mention all the alien races I never even saw before in The Kyln

For people without the internet. Every trailer they have said to watch a tv episode for came out on the internet at the same time. The Jimmy Kimmel one, the abc special, and this will be the same.
