WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - Up Next: Brave New World 02/14/25

I liked the fat todd character. He was an accidental / inadvertant savage.

I don't ins but I disagree it's like Green Lantern.

There were no special captain Marvel powers passed to Carol.

She got the powers by accident during some extended fight with the bad guy and Mar-Vell. Then years later he died of cancer. The powers she got aren't even similar to Mar-Vell's. The mission he was on is obviously not the reason why she's a superhero.

I dunno maybe cuz the GL origin is very clear to me I don't see it. Aint like dude came to earth dying of cancer sent his powers to go find a new host and she became a part of a galactic peace keeping force.

I just hope the origin is really good if its gonna be new.

Yeah, the biggest similarity in my mind is that they both come into contact with aliens. Green Lantern meets a dying alien, goes into space, and receives training on a completely different world. Carol gets caught in the crossfire of a fight featuring an alien, is severely injured, disappeared for years, and showed up again with powers one day as a result. She then remained solely on Earth for a good while. I don't see how either is similar enough that there'd be an issue telling the classic origin(s). And of course her powers and Green Lantern's are drastically different. This seems like worrying over nothing. Might as well be afraid of people getting Batman and Daredevil's origins confused because their parents died in a violent manner :lol

I wish it wasn't an origin at all tbh

Can't agree. Carol's like Dr. Strange. Not nearly known enough to skip an origin film. Batman and Spider-Man are some of the few characters that can get away with that.

I think Marvel knows that DC is actively making a new Green Lantern film and GL being a more well known character than Colonel Danvers they don't want to give WB/DC any ideas into how to properly introduce essentially a galactic police officer with cosmic powers even though their power set and origins differ greatly.

So that being said, we're not seeing Richard Rider on film any time soon huh? :{

I agree. Just tired of origin films.

I am and at the same time i'm not. I'm tired of them because I know the origins of these characters for the most part. So I don't personally need an origin film. At the same time, these origin films haven't been disappointing me for the most part and there's something really, really cool with the prospect of getting to see Iron Man and Dr. Strange's origins on the big screen. I think it's better now that we've moved beyond Phase 1, so that with every origin film you get a sequel to a previous film.

General public don't know **** about Carol Danvers or even Mar-Vell.

I don't see how they can drop the first female-led Marvel movie starring a relatively obscure character and not go into her origin

Do something similar to what they did in Civil War with BP. Have her in Infintity War. Make her badass, and then spin off into her film.

Yes us casual comic fans and casual moviegoers need the origins of captain marvel

This is basically how I feel. Batman and Spidey have had several film interpretations and everyone knows their background already. I'm fine with origin stories for characters that haven't been done on the big screen yet. We don't really need to see the same story in a new movie for the umpteenth time.

There's special cases where I'm fine with reboots doing origins. I wouldn't mind a Spawn reboot doing an origin if they vary it enough from the original and the movie's good enough to warrant a sequel.

Word the whole tired of origins movies can't apply.

Nobody even knows it. That's clear by thinking it's like GL's.

How is CM's backstory at all similar to GL's :lol

Both work at the army, run into an alien and then get powers after that encounter

Well said, sir
I guess Spider-Man got a similar origin to Batman; family dies then they become vigilante superheroes.
