WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - Up Next: Brave New World 02/14/25

It definitely will underperform imo. But I dont think it'll be because of Claran.....er, I mean Anthony. This film was plagued with production delays and re-shoots. And in CBM terms, most of the time that spells disaster in the making.

No one’s saying hmm should I go see the new Anthony Mackie flick?

They’re asking if they should see the new Captain America movie. Don’t need to project your dislike for the whole GA.

I'm not projecting anything. I didn't say HE was the reason. I said he's part of it because he doesn't have much star power and he's not gonna sell this film to the audience. That affects box office performance. Has nothing to do whether I like him or not.

That's definitely the other reasons why it'll underperform. The movie has no buzz. I don't even think the Red Hulk sighting in the trailer is doing what they thought it would.

Hemsworth and Evan’s didn’t have box office power. Neither did Pratt. He’s an established character at this point. Good story/performance is what sells it.

Eh between the fact that the characters themselves did box office being thiswas their first time being on the big screen and the fact that the MCU train was moving full speed ahead to its first ever destination at that point, you can't really compare this to that.

You kind of can because it’s essentially a new franchise with a new lead and we still don’t know how this whole saga is ending yet or the end goal.

The marvel machine wasn’t fully rolling with Hemsworths first Thor or Evans’ first Cap. The first Cap didn’t do nearly as well as Iron Man or Thor iirc.

Naww because if this fails.....you know what everyone is going to say. "SuPeR HerO FAtiGuE". The first phases didn't have to worry about that. The whole concept was new to everyone. Now everyone knows theres going to be a big ending movie.

And to be clear, I actually think the movie will be decent. I just think it'll flop at the BO. Could be wrong. We'll see.

Lowkey? May? Is anyone here a fan of Anthony Mackie.

So it’s going to under perform because Anthony Mackie is in it?
Any Anthony Mackie led movies do wonders at the box office?
Mackie led movies aren’t money makers but outside of the first Captain America movie they are all the ensemble flicks anyway.

If the movie underperforms it won’t be cuz of him but he surely isn’t helping it over perform.

Besides underperform is a weird word choice for this. It’s a MCU movie. I’m sure Marvel have their own projections but the only thing to look at is if the movie barely breaks even or if it does even worse like some DC or Sony movie.

Cuz I doubt this movie is gonna make near a billi like Civil War and given that was the last Cap movie that would be “underperforming”.

Marvel on a relative losing streak, no one caring about Sam Wilson and the chaos behind the scenes of this movie are going to make this a box office disappointment.

I'm sure it will deliver on the typical C+/B- level that Marvel tends to do.

Is it a L if Cap doesn't do a Billi worldwide? Forget about the states, have a better chance smashing Ice Spice or Angela Simmons.
