What are the best items to buy at Dollar stores?

Really only go there to get birthday bags and occasionally get plastic utensils, plates, etc. for picnics...

This. I really only go into the dollar store for disposable plates, forks, spoons, and the birthday bags and paper.

Are we talking about true dollar stores like Dollar Tree/99 Cent Only where everything is $1 and under? Or stores like Dollar General/Family Dollar? If it's Dollar General, I've found that a lot of cleaning chemicals/sprays are cheaper there than grocery stores. And bug spray

At true dollar stores though, I always stop there for candy before going to the movies

Random stuff. They sometimes have good tools .. birthday balloons, envelopes, laser pointers, box cutters, tennis balls, activity books, etc etc

I get my toothbrushes and toothpaste at the dollar stores as well..
