What's the first step in flipping $1000 to $100,000? Cop some work? High chance of return, but also high risk. Real Estate? If so, where? Studio time? but do people really wanna hear you? Go to the auction and get a fixer-upper, fix her up, then flip her? Stock Market? might as well go to the casino...

Interesting that this thread pops up right around the time I'm trying to figure out what to invest $1000 in. I'm thinking of putting it into the stock market and to just wait for Facebook to go public and get in on that.

Give it to me. I'll hit a 5 team parlay and turn it into $15,000. I'll keep 1k and you get the rest.

Then What? Stock Market forever? or til u get $5000? then another investment?

Dont know. Just part of the research I need to do. Ideally I'll hold it in the market for a long time, at least until I graduate. I'd be ecstatic if I could turn 1k into 5 in a couple years

You ain't flippin' anything with $1,000. Not if you don't know what the the hell you're doing. This isn't the same market as it was when flipping was so prevalent. Just save it up and used it as a down payment for a condo. Live in it for a few years then turn it into an investment property.

Just throwing it into the stock market is silly because chances are you're going to w/d those funds when you feel you could use the money. Then you'll incur penalties. The best way to invest, imo, is gradually. The only way the chunk of funds will work is if you're already in a great spot financially. If you know you won't touch it, then great! But that's just not realistic for the majority. Myself included.

If it were that easy, won't more people do it? The best use of $1000 is education. Become educated on a topic you love and then work you butt off to become successful at it. Most get rich quick schemes leave people without any money to reinvest despite the promises their promoters make.
