Whats the gun law like in Philly?

I'm moving to philly from NYC next month and i want a handgun for home defense and for the ranges.. and i want know whats the gun law like could i just gointo a firearm dealer and buy a gun and leave like states down south or do i need a permit/license. Thanks in advance..

You need to go to the police station and fill out paper work. Also this is the process for most states. If you go to a gun shop they will tell you all thestuff you will need to do?
