2)   Regardless of the amount of money stolen, the homeless guy committed armed robbery, a serious felony.   The fact that he didn't actually have a gun is inconsequential; when you commit a bank robbery under the pretense of being armed, the law comes down on you hard.

That is all.

Not only that, the homeless man went from being homeless to having shelter and 3 square meals a day for the next 15 years.

This should be posted in every one of these stupid threads like this.
If people knew more about the criminal justice system they'd understand

Whiterails did provide background but it doesn't materially change OP's argument.
Arguing that Allen was "simply" an enabler and that is why the light sentence is justified is ludicrous. What's the line between enabler and participant?  A sympathetic/ bought off  judge and a well paid and connected lawyer?

The pretense of armed robbery is serious but at the end of the day nobody was hurt. That's the fact. Mandatory sentencing is what it is but that doesn't make it fair.

Another fact is that the Justice system has never been fair. It isn't fair now either. "Equality under the Law" is a farce.

I know more about the criminal justice system than the vast majority of the board and I still don't understand, so you can save all that man. Our system is VERY flawed.
