Why Didn't $1 Coins Last?

10 years ago they made all those golden dollars? Why didn't they last? Is it because people don't wanna have all that change in their pockets? I remember some machines had bigger slots to fit these

I see them everyday at work...i work for an armored truck company tho...

i've never had any to spend tho

uhh.. they're still around. people just don't like using them. i have like 5 in my change drawer right now.

i dont use them because 1) they dont work in vending machines 2) they dont work in my schools laundry machines, and 3) i dont like carrying around coins
 
Two reasons I can think of:
1. I can get over losing a quarter, but a dollar? That's pushing it.
2. Smaller coins aren't that difficult to counterfeit, just not worth it. A bunch of dollar coins would be worth the time.

My two cents. No pun intended, lol.
 
change is always falling out of my pocket so i avoid carrying change with me. my heart skips a beat whenever i lose a quarter word to
