From 97-99, X had Jigga as far as music, albums, and lyrics. I personally can't vouch for any of the Life volumes from Jay-Z. Them joints is average disc,with Vol. 2 being a below average effort. It's Dark and Hell is Hot is a classic. Flesh was better than Vol. 2. And I'll take And there was X over Vol.3. Remember that album sold like 6 million(more than any Jay album). He had Party Up which was bigger than Big Pimpin. He had the joint with Sisqo which killedthe R&B as well as the Hip Hop charts and my favorite, "What's My Name"! Homie was murking Jigga...what is y'all talking about? This isbefore all that Hov *%@# came into play...And remember, the first 5 DMX's albums debuted at number 1.

Maybe not, but his first 5 albums all debuted at #1. I'd say that's more impressive than just a #1 single.

And yea, DMX was killing it back then. Even though Jay was always better lyrically, I still give It's Dark and Hell is Hot more spins than any Jay-Zalbums. I kinda feel like DMX made better, more listenable songs (at least for me anyways) than Jay did.

I'll be one of thefirst to say X was my favorite rapper from 98-2000, X was indeed hotter than Jay from 98-2000 imo. I was never a big fan of Vol 3 and Dynasty is my leastfavorite Jay album... 98 X had 2 #1 albums in one calender year with both those albums going multi-platinum... thats insane
