I have 2 computers. A desktop running vista and a laptop running windows 7. Both the computers have their network settings turned on. Documents, printer, etc. Now, when I'm on my laptop, i can see everything that is being shared from the desktop. Doesn't work that way when I'm on my desktop. I can see my laptop on the network, but i can't access its files.
I have a Netgear router if it helps

check that your firewall has a port open on the desktop for the router
or just turn off your firewall

I turned off the firewall on my desktop. Wasn't able to detect any files. I forgot to mention that they're also in the same workgroup
