Wrestling Thread Aug 24-30 | 8/28 - Smackdown - CM Punk vs Jeff Hardy - Steel Cage Loser Leaves Town

I'm usually pretty forgiving when talking about Raw. But last night was hands down one of the worst episodes of Raw I have ever seen. It was the first timeever that I was truly pained to continue watching it. What a horrendous way to follow up a good pay per view.

I wonder if anyone backstage during the Santino/Miz match heard how over Santino was and thought, maybe we're pushing the wrong guy.

All this talk about Billy Gunn winning the KOTR makes me only think of one thing:

Skip ahead to 4:15 to see one of the most ultimate displays of verbal ownage in the history of wrestling.

I would never be tempted if Smackdown was on Thursday nights like it should be.

I'm glad Jericho and Show are making the tag titles/tag division mean something again. There's money in the tag team division, but the bookers have tostep up, and the talent has to realize that money/recognition can be had in a tag team.

ECW was a decent show. I feel bad for Christian if his only ally against Regal and Co., is Tommy Dreamer.

If I did the PPV lineup, I'd go...

Jan - Royal Rumble

Feb - No Way Out

Mar - None

Apr - Wrestlemania/Backlash

May - Judgement Day

June - King of The Ring

July - The Great American Bash

Aug - Summerslam

Sept - No Mercy

Oct - Halloween Havoc

Nov - Survivor Series

Dec - Starrcade

Jericho is GOLD at what he does. look what he did with the IC title and rey. he had a lil feud with rey and made him and the belt significant again. and nowhe's making the tag titles significant again. hopefully he'll leave the seed for the tag titles much like how he left for the IC title. then maybe hecan FINALLY start a fresh feud with taker

Big Show seems more interested in wrestling too. He was going through the motions, and now he seems like his love for the business has jumped a few notches.

I am very interested to see how the program with Undertaker and CM Punk goes. The guys at whosslammingwho brought up some great points regarding the feud.Since the next PPV is Breaking Point (loathe that name) and the match will be a submission match, does anyone realistically think they will book Punk to makeUT tap out/submit?
The WWE has some options/things to think about. Do they make Punk a transitional champ again and have him lose cleanly to UT, after only a one month titlereign? If Punk does lose, then does anymore need to be said about what the WWE thinks of him?

Does WWE have UT lose his very first big match since WM? I wish the silly submission requirements were not apart of this match, as I would like to see Punkretain and have a nice little run with the title. If the submission component was taking out the match, I think having Punk retain via DQ or by cheating wouldbe best. The UT like HBK, Jericho, Cena and to a lesser degree Mysterio does not need the belt to be and over with the fans.

Everything went downhill when he wasn't Badd $%@ Billy Gunn anymore.

So I'm watching the rise and fall of WCW and start to notice that anybody who is w/ TNA or not employed by WWE is either ignored or bad mouthed. OK, I getit you hate Nash, Russo and Jeff Jarret but how the hell do you make a DVD about WCW and not say Sting's name once? Thank god somebody put it on the net soI don't have to want my money back. I'm never buying a DVD from WWE about anything other then WWE people because they will never give them a fairshake. Oh and Big show sounded butt hurt about the money he wasn't making he really came off like a jealous lil girl about it.

Do not buy this DVD!!!

You know, even though I already ordered it, I was afraid this was going to happen. It seems so damn cheap of Vince to do that because is he reallythreatened by TNA? The WWE has an absolute stranglehold on the wrasslin business and everybody knows it. Look at all of us who watched Raw this past Mondaydespite how God-awful it was.

I wish there was an independent company that did these types of documentaries, so there wouldn't be such a blatant, obvious bias.

Speaking of which, one of the better documentaries I have seen of late is the Bret Hart - Wrestling in Shadows. The best part is you can watch the entire thinghere - http://www.nfb.ca/film/hi..._wrestling_with_shadows/ - I know a good majorityof you have probably already seen it but if not definitely watch it.

Yeah, that's why Eric Bischoff chose not to partake in the WCW DVD. Those appearanceson the DVD are recycled.

The respect for Sting is there, and Vince and Sting are on good terms, but the plan is when retires/departs TNA, they're gonna do a DVD on him.

It makes no sense that they acknowlegde Sting and Nash in apositive light when talking about Superstars of the 90's yet in this DVD trash talk or forget tomention the same superstars. I guess the E is just doing so as a sign of disrespect. I mean they did not even cut a good promo for it on Raw as it seemed theywere mocking it. I agree there should be a separate entity that takes these videos in an unbiased way and produces them so that you get the good and the badbut most importantly the truth. I wish they would do a WCW series where they acknowledge their PPVs as well as characters. It would be better for the WWE in myopinion if they even incorporated merchandise as wel las PPV's. I mean who here would not buy any WCW merchandise or watch any WCW themed PPVs?

I loved WCW. WWE is wrong for trying to recreate history. Only Jim Ross, Jericho, Big Show, Rey Mysterio, and other WCW are unbiased. Though it would be hardfor an unbiased WCW DVD to made, because of money, WWE owns everything WCW, gettin' all the players involved, and timing.

I'd cop WCW merchandise. The only pieces of merchandise that stands out are the NWO shirts. Other than that, they never had a signature piece ofmerchandise that stands out, like the Rock shirt with the blue bull, the Austin 3:16 shirt, DX shirt in silver/blk etc.
