Smackdown going to be garbage other than Bray and American Alpha.

The WWE draft ended up just as planned from the start, with the same dynamics of Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins as the top Raw program and John Cena vs. A.J. Styles as the top Smackdown program.

But a lot changed leading to the draft. The original idea was for those two matches to be the title matches to headline the 8/21 SummerSlam show at the Barclays Center, with Reigns vs. Rollins for the existing WWE title, and Cena vs. Styles, to create the Smackdown title.

The key changes were the Reigns failed drug test which led to Dean Ambrose getting the WWE title, Cena cutting back on his schedule and the Brock Lesnar drug test failure in UFC. None of the three changed any end result of who ended up on what brand, but all three led to shifting around the order of some of the picks.

Lesnar was originally slated to be the first pick. It’s not certain that was always the plan, but it was the plan last week, stemming from his win over Mark Hunt and the publicity it garnered. To get over the value of the title, Ambrose was scheduled as the second pick for Smackdown, followed by Rollins for Raw and then Cena for Smackdown.

Regarding NXT, there will be another round of call-ups in the fall. As far as Bayley goes, there is a possibility she will be the mystery partner of Sasha Banks in the tag team match against Charlotte & Dana Brooke, even though Banks specifically said that it wouldn’t be her. If not, she is expected in around September.
