It was solid entertainment, and set the bar too far IMO. They try to recreate it ofr a reason.
Right, they are trying to recreate it for the reason that it was the biggest financial and most popular era in the last 25 years.

But that doesn't mean it was what was best for the business LONG TERM. That is my argument.

What are the problems with them trying to implement those practices today

1. PG-Era: No matter what they do, Linda is going to be lurking in the political ranks, so the company's "raunch" has to die down. So they couldn't do those wild things even if they wanted to.

2. There is no competition: WCW punishing them in the ratings is what put that spark in WWE's approach. No need for 3 hours. No need for Star vs Star in EVERY match. No need for long drawn out promos IN the ring, a ring should only be used for a fight.

So them chasing what they did back then is the MAIN reason why I said that time period has hurt the business long term

I get where you're coming from. Same could be said for the 80s era. WWF kept going to the same well for what was working for them for years, until it didn't work. It wasn't cuz WCW bought all their stars, but because WCW was better product. It was against the grain and controversial. No gimmicky Ramon, Diesel, or vitamin Hogan. Once they got edgy and away from their formula they found success like the competitior. Same thing with product today. It's not that the era has them stuck in their ways, it's the fact Vince is stubborn and needs a company to knock him upside his dome maybe.

Vince is the problem. Look at how NXT builds vs the main roster. The talent is definitely there. Look at how poorly Seth was utilized. Arguably the best wrestler in the company and more often than not the best match on the card taking L's every week. Doesn't make sense

Vince is stubborn and has a sea of yes men and people clearly scared to approach him with anything. If this garbage writing staff put as much focus on building new stars and long-term booking as they do on trying to recreate old eras, they wouldn't have to have the Rock come back on every movie break, have the Outlaws win the titles like 13 years after their last title run, nor keep Kane and Big Show on TV in general.
