All sport fighting is fake, from street fights under The Code to championship boxing...fighting is what one does to extract oneself from a life or death situation, and any "rules" restricting conduct in this endeavor are designed to produce entertaining, palatable results instead of realistic and effective ones. If someone corners me in a dark alley, they're losing a ******* eye, not a fight.
To answer your question tho, looks like a competitive MMA contest to me. Those elbows from Ortiz around the 4:10 mark aren't very friendly. I think what you're seeing is athletes that are just past their prime.

Am one of the only ones left that would like to see MMA with no weight classes. And almost no rules, as close to real as it can be.
Guys like GSP would have never been able to make a living at it.

I'd be down to watch, that's what attracted me to OG UFC (for full disclosure, I was 10 give or take 2 years). It was a tournament on some Mortal Kombat steez, no weight classes, no "MMA" style, just different disciplines. I think the only thing that was illegal was direct eye pokes and no biting.
That's as close to "real fighting" as we're ever going to see unless you get involved with a club you shouldn't talk about.

the kid tore it up vs. shibata last night at rev pro
he does a small podcast weekly for a website. listened to a few of it and it's pretty interesting. i think he is just enjoying the flexibility of indy life and having fun. you can tell he's a total stoner
wwe is in his future but he's in no rush
no denying, the kid can definitely wrestle. transitioned well from mma and is a natural in the ring.
think the wellness policy has a soft stance on mmj

On Goldberg:
I was never a WCW fan growing up so I was never a Goldberg fan at all and Ive told him that. He was the enemy, he was the guy taking Steve Austins look. So to stand in the ring on Raw, and to have his music hit and his pyro [go off] was very surreal, as in the 1990s and 2000s, I couldnt stand it.
On Shinsuke Nakamura in NXT:
I think if you look at NXT, the one guy who seems like he would belong in a WrestleMania main event is Nakamura, because of the aura and the buzz that he gets. He is able to grab the attention of people who dont really know who he is right away with his mannerisms and entrance by the time he gets to the ring, you are kind of hooked.
On possibly facing The Undertaker:
If I had to narrow it down to one [to face at WrestleMania] it would be The Undertaker. He is synonymous with that event and I was always in awe of him as a kid, teenager and adult.

Yes, the gap in competition is probably enough to where the champ would damn near always retain, but it would be a little something different.
