I really think Dean Ambrose took a long, hard look at his life when he was getting mentored by Mick Foley in advance of his match with Brock a Mania or two ago.

I think looking at the missing teeth, mangled ear and crooked gait of the hardcore legend  up close for a few weeks was like looking into the future of where a deathmatch style would take him and his body. That can definitely be looked at as a defining time in his career, he's been steadily less "crazy" since then.

I continue to disapprove of the way the E plays their full-time roster at Mania time.
