For real. So many main event matches have been ending in DQ. Such a lazy, cop out. Every now and then it makes sense. But not the frequency WWE does it.

I don't think it was a work in the sense that Reigns injury was fake. I doubt WWE would go through the trouble of having doctors and what not in on it.
I believe WWE knew he needed surgery and wasn't gonna be at NoC, so they announced his surgery as "breaking news" that weekend.
This would explain why they had the Rollins/Reigns match on Raw with a clean finish, days before their scheduled PPV match.
