I mean... Is it though? The majority of the people I know who plays it has thrown in a good chunk of money for skins, dances, and accessories. Sure the base is free but the season pass charges rack up quick to where is more pricey than a new game that just dropped.

But that's on them for paying.. you didn't have to pay 29.99 to play like pubg ... when i first played fn I thought it was a joke .. a cartoon version of cod but then my friends got on and I ended up liking it... I have also yet to buy any of the stupid dances and skins.. why buy them when they don't make you any better .. I like how they made it this way bec. There is always a majority of us who wouldn't pay for decorations

Word, I haven't spent a dime on fortnite yet; all that stuff is purely cosmetic. I wouldn't mind spending a couple dollars for some cool skins though .
Nah not the game. I was in the closed beta for the game. Closed beta people got an exclusive Ship sail for the game. Apparently people who really like the game but weren’t in the beta covet these kinds of things
While technically fortnite is free, people willingly buy the battle pass every season. For example the last battle pass sold 5 million passes in the first day
So while you can play the game for free, your not really getting anything out of it unless you pay money for the challenges, skins emotes etc

But those things are all cosmetic and you don't need it nor does it make you better in game... it's peoples choice to buy those .. no matter what it's still a free game

I'd disagree that it doesn't make the game better. Mostly because serious players (better players) typically won't team up with guys who have a bare bones skin. Essentially being seen as rookies.
It is cosmetic and doesn't affect that actual gameplay though, absolutely.

Nephew put me on fortnite, and y’all convinced me to buy the battlepass...it’s fun and runs and looks fantastic. A bit faster paced I feel than pubg.
